Help.
i have spaniels and walk dogs daily over wet muddy ground .
i have had several pairs of hunters (playboots so short) which have split on the seams. The latest pair were purchased in Feb. I am seeking a refund but any recommendations for similar size and priced waterproof wellies

thanks

Le Chameau. Indestructible. TK Maxx and Brand Alley have had them in recently at good prices but they are worth it even at a higher price. The neoprene lined ones are wonderful in winter.

Doggymummar · 13/12/2024 18:38

I have the kangol ones, but have just picked up some Chameau from Vinted for £15.00 bargain. I want some ankle ones as well and might get them from Vinted too

Chameau used to be okay but the quality is now very poor for the price. If you want warm and sturdy, Aigles are the best I've had in the last few years. We’ve got horses so in wellies every day!

countrygirl99 · 13/12/2024 18:43

I've given up on expensive wellies and just go.for Dunlop. They last just as long and are a hell.of a lot cheaper. Also got horses and in wellies every day.

EdithStourton · 13/12/2024 18:47

Muckboots.

You will NOT look like a style icon, but your feet will be warm and dry, and the grip is decent.

Gingerisgoodforyou · 13/12/2024 19:37

I love my Le Chameau, worth it if you wear wellies a lot. They are very tight though, and I have fairly slim legs, so might be tricky to fit if you have more muscly calves. I'm short of leg and they almost hit my knee caps which is the only drawback.

cashmerecardigans · 13/12/2024 19:58

Le Chameau neoprene lining are fabulous

averythinline · 13/12/2024 20:09

Dh who does most of the spaniel walking has muckboots with neoprene top....

I have fitflop ones as have rubbish wide feet...
His have done 2 yrs now with occasional care...
Hes going to try Dunlop but not the basic next as DS got for working at festivals and raved about them...

I reckon he'll missthe muckboots as proper walking base..

CeliaCanth · 13/12/2024 20:13

Le Chameau are excellent and comfortable to walk in too.

2025willbemytime · 13/12/2024 20:14

Sainsbury's. £18. Perfect.

JBJ · 13/12/2024 20:33

Muckboots are brilliant. I've had a couple of pairs of Hunters and a pair of short Joules which have all been rubbish in comparison to my Muckboots.

BoobyDazzler · 13/12/2024 20:35

Muckboots

They are perfection.

frockandcrocs · 13/12/2024 20:39

I've had my Le Chameaus for nearly a decade, almost daily use for 6 years due to horses (they only didn't get used in the height of summer when the field is bone dry and the horses were living out!).
Of late, they're used for wet dog walks and snow days. Still waterproof!

Vegemite123 · 13/12/2024 20:42

My Le Chameau’s are 20 years old and now leak :( they have been amazing but I’ve heard the quality is now not as good. I tried to replace my much loved Jamesons two year ago, and the updated version were really not nearly as nice as my old ones :(

Onlyvisiting · 13/12/2024 20:45

Farmer and dog walker here- always wear Nora dolomite.
Around £35 a pair online and have good grip.

bluesatin · 13/12/2024 20:45

Dunlop are cheap and durable.

Littlebitpsycho · 13/12/2024 20:46

Surprised by the number of recommendations for chameau - I'm a freelance groom working with horses and dogs and had 2 pairs split inside 6 months. For the massive price tag I wasn't at all impressed.

I've now got neoprene lined Dunlops and they are bloody awesome for the price, really tough and warm but super supportive (i have terrible feet) and only about £40. They've done me 3 years - my new pair arrived today actually 😀

Thesebloominhorses · 13/12/2024 20:48

Le Chameau if budget will stretch. Mine are in year 5 of daily wear (we have horses) and are warm, comfortable, still waterproof, look nice, just all round best wellington boot ever. Aigle are similar and I hear are as good.

in second place muck boots, cheaper (a bit) strong, tough, warm. Blimmin ugly though

alternatively I quite like a muck boot, like the woof wear ones, or sorrels etc

LazJaz · 13/12/2024 20:50

Live in my aigles. They often have good sales after Xmas too, shipping from France though so not terribly convenient

TheCanaryInThePurpleSkirt · 13/12/2024 21:58

I’ve tried many and would say Muckboots are the best.

EdithStourton · 13/12/2024 22:19

I fan-girled about Muckboots upthread and forgot to mention that they are very, very light. By the time you have walked across a muddy field and acquired nice clay overshoes, they weigh about as much as some normal wellies.

IvyTwines · 13/12/2024 22:27

Muckboots - just bought some again to replace a pair of more elegant-looking Aigles that spilt in less than a year. My old Muckboots were handed on to a relative because I prefer a shorter leg length - she uses them every day to care for her horse and they're still going strong.

BayleysOnCornflakes · 13/12/2024 22:35

I adore my Barbour wellies, DD wore them and now also has the same design. Comfy and smart.

100% agree. I realised recently that I might never need to buy a new pair of wellies again... muckboots are amazingly tough, insulated, and comfy.

1dayatatime · 13/12/2024 22:47

I get through a lot of wellies - generally the Aigle Parcours split on the sides after 18 months and the Chameaus split on the soles also after 18 months.

Hunters and Joules are really shite and uncomfortable. Dunlop last but are not that comfy.

To be honest I've yet to find a decent long lasting pair of wellies that are comfortable.
