Help.
i have spaniels and walk dogs daily over wet muddy ground .
i have had several pairs of hunters (playboots so short) which have split on the seams. The latest pair were purchased in Feb. I am seeking a refund but any recommendations for similar size and priced waterproof wellies

thanks

Muckboots are the best, I like the short ones because they go over jeans easily

Abbaa · 13/12/2024 23:02

I always buy fit flops in the sale - not sure if I've been lucky but I have 3 pairs (different heights) and had no problems.

LadyWiddiothethird · 13/12/2024 23:03

I had Aigle from TKMaxx lasted years. My present ones are FitFlop, also from TKMaxx,I looked up the reviews after I bought them, they were not good, but mine have been excellent so far.I wear them every day to walk the dog.

Typerighter · 13/12/2024 23:05

I disagree on muckboots. First pair bought a decade ago were fantastic. Recent pairs have all rubbed and split on the ankles and lost all their tread very quickly so they became dangerous. I won't be bothering with another pair!

Neoprene decathlon wellies
Have lasted longer than any expensive ones I have had before
Comfy too

Supersimkin7 · 13/12/2024 23:05

Merry people have jolly colours and feel
Solid, but only used them briefly as new. Neoprene very comfy.

TeenLifeMum · 13/12/2024 23:10

My hunters split within 4 months and they couldn’t replace (pandemic limited stock availability) so I kept them with a refund but after researching I’m going back to joules, which I had for 10 years previously. I hear they don’t last as long but they’re in the sale so at that price I don’t mind so much. I was so excited to invest in decent wellies and gutted I just paid for a label rather than quality.

Itslookinglikeabeautifulday · 13/12/2024 23:55

Another vote for Aigle - I have the neoprene-lined ones and they keep my feet toasty.

countrygirl99 · 14/12/2024 05:06

Don't get Sainsbury's wellies. Awful footbed that gave me blisters and split after a few weeks.

LardoBurrows · 14/12/2024 05:14

I've got Aigles and neoprene lined muckboots and they are both really comfortable with good traction in mud.

SorrowsPrayers · 14/12/2024 05:41

I used to be a Muckboot girl. Had my first pair for years but they eventually leaked ( I trod on a nail). The second pair were awful. They had a seam in the back that rubbed my heels to pieces.
I now have two pairs of Aigles. A neoprene lined pair for the winter and normal parcourts for summer. They are fabulous. I'm just about to put the winter pair on and go for a muddy walk.

Branster · 14/12/2024 06:12

Muckboots are incredibly comfortable and brilliant in cold weather. But the area at the back of the heel, the neoprene lining rubs off inside the boot and it really makes that spot bleed and hurt. Their customer service refuse to accept it's a design fault. I've had this happen on 3 pairs. Very, very annoying. I'd never recommend Muckboots any more because of this. Friends of mine have had the same problem.
For the price, I'd want them to last me 5 years of hard wearing for dog walking.

Le Chameau. Indestructible. TK Maxx and Brand Alley have had them in recently at good prices but they are worth it even at a higher price. The neoprene lined ones are wonderful in winter.

Second this. Way more flexible than Hunters, easier to get on and off (no ‘suction’ effect). Wider calf fit I think. Got mine in a nice dark green on Brand Alley for under £50.

WillowTit · 14/12/2024 06:18

i agree Dunlop are good

WinterFoxes · 14/12/2024 06:19

Not glamorous but my Dunlop wellies have lasted years and I live knee deep in muddy farmland.

bakewellbride · 14/12/2024 06:19

I know you might think this is a joke but I bought a cheap pair off shoe zone and they're still going strong. I have a dog and do a lot of muddy walks. It's amazing

beccahamlet · 14/12/2024 06:24

Another vote for Aigle. First pair lasted 5 years. I'm into 5 years on my second pair. Comfortable, warm and good traction.

NunyaBeeswax · 14/12/2024 10:54

I had dunlops and the sole wore smooth in less than 6 months.
Which Dunlop's are people suggesting? The ones I had were short and cost about £12 I think. (I got the shorter ones because I dont like the Welly tops flapping about as I walk, are other models snug in legs?)

BlossomWood · 14/12/2024 11:16

I've just bought some merry people boots, so far I've found them to be really comfy and sturdy. Can't comment about wear and tear as not had them long enough yet but the reviews are good

I've given up on expensive wellies and just go.for Dunlop. They last just as long and are a hell.of a lot cheaper. Also got horses and in wellies every day.

And on to say this too. £14 a pair and when they give up the ghost I just get a new pair.

Henrythehappypig · 14/12/2024 11:30

Neoprene Muckboots. I grew up on a farm and no one had posh wellies but I constantly had cold feet. Neoprene so much better than relying on thick/many socks.

WillowTit · 14/12/2024 11:30

i have had my dunlop for years

You beat me to it. Last me two years of daily use and cost £10.

RoseyLentil · 14/12/2024 11:50

I love my Argyles. Worn daily and so comfortable. £45 but that was a few years ago now. Bought from local feed merchants.

SingingSands · 14/12/2024 11:59
