Facial fluff and chin hairs

I’m mid 40s and seem to have an increasing amount of one off random chin hairs that are black which I pluck. Also noticing in certain mirrors/lights that I have a lot of side cheek and chin fluff. I dread to think what someone talking to me sees when the sun shines on my face from the wrong angle. Do you see people out there with hairy faces, I’m hoping I’m not very hairy faced and everyone knows but hasnt told me.

always thought best to leave in case but grows back darker and thicker.

but now thinking if should deal with it. What do others do and recommend?

I wax upper lip

Very normal. We all got it!
Removal doesn't make it grow thicker however it won't be sun bleached so could look darker depending on your hair.
If you want to remove then getting it threaded is good for fluff.

TiramisuThief · 29/11/2024 14:21

I get my face waxed to get rid of the fluff.

Used to get it threaded but there's nowhere round where I've moved to that does it. Which is a shame because it's a much better finish.

Rocknrollstar · 29/11/2024 14:33

I have a nice lady who comes to the house and does threading. I prefer it to waxing - less painful and doesn’t make the skin sore. Lots of place do it - our local shopping centre has two walk in places.

Ariela · 29/11/2024 15:09

As you've dark hairs, I'd get laser treatment to remove those.

Whatsnmynameagain9 · 29/11/2024 18:28

Thank you for the suggestions. I will look pit threading

the dark hairs grow in and very close to a mole. The joy! So might be unsuitable for laser?

I have a few darker hairs around the chin that I use my lumea on and that keeps them at bay for months. For the blonde fluff I dermaplane at home once a fortnight or so. I take hair growth vitamins and have definitely noticed the side-effect of an uptick in face fluff!

ohyesido · 29/11/2024 18:40

I have these, they are a royal pain in the rear end and I cannot leave the house without tweezers. But I don't ever notice them on other people.

Isn't it a plucking nuisance trying to get them when they poke through and aren't quite long enough to get hold of

shellyleppard · 29/11/2024 18:59

My chin hairs vanish for weeks then all reappear at once!!! Face fuzz is there but only in a certain light

StressedSquirrell · 29/11/2024 19:08

Try dermaplaning (I go to a salon to have it done professionally) my skin is so smooth afterwards.

SalsaLights · 29/11/2024 19:14

Use a bikini trimmer. They come with different attachments and can be used for face as well. I pluck the dark hairs and then run a trimmer over for the fluff. I have sensitive skin so waxing and threading causes loads of redness and bumps which take ages to calm down. I have a remington one which works well and wasn't expensive.

BoobyDazzler · 29/11/2024 19:15

Completely normal. Me and my friends all get hairs in random places. I’ve always had a hairy chin and a moustache the joys of having olive skin! I used to used a lumea which saw off most of it and nowadays I pull out the pubey ones with tweezers (or
my fingernails while driving/on teams calls!).

I shave the bum fluff off.

IBlameTheDog · 29/11/2024 19:16

I shave my face with my ladyshaver. No black hairs but lots of peach fuzz stuff.

Makeup goes on soooo much nicer.

I do dermaplane sometimes but ladyshaver takes 30 seconds a couple of time a week and looks and feels lovely after!

Letmehaveabloodyusernameplease · 29/11/2024 19:17

I can relate. I'm 52, in the throes of perimenopause and I can grow a better beard than my husband plus my lovely Mother was quite hirsute in the chin and upper lip department so there was no hope for me really.😭

Delorian · 29/11/2024 19:18

Thick black ones get plucked or Lasered at home. Peach fuzz gets razored ones a week with a man's razor. Don't bother with the at home dermaplaning tools, they're just crap razors, renamed so women don't think they're shaving.

Also be careful with wax and threading. My face is sensitive so if I threaded it, I would be covered in red spots on every pore for a week.

carolledout · 29/11/2024 19:22

Oh yes, 45 here and yes, witch hairs and fluff. I have to check in bright light every morning for unexpected black witch fur. And dermaplane the fluff.

It's the crone beckoning us - eyebrow and head hair, sparser, chin and face fur - luxuriant 😂

Mmmkaay · 29/11/2024 19:29

Sorry to hijack but do you have to let the hair grow out to lumea it? I'm getting darker thicker hairs at the corners of my mouth which I'm fanatical about plucking - I'd like to get a lumea to stop them growing but can't bear the thought of them being visible while I wait for them to be long enough to attack!

Ursulla · 29/11/2024 19:37

No! You can use a lumea on any hair that hasn't been plucked. So stop plucking and shave for a week or so, then lumea. Do the lumea every two weeks and shave in between and eventually they will go.

Runskiyoga · 29/11/2024 19:53

I just veet the fluff occasionally

InWithPeaceOutWithStress · 29/11/2024 19:56

I got a Braun face mini trimmer, it was less than £30 and works so well.

suburburban · 29/11/2024 19:59

It's terrible.

I use wax strips then I get spots on the side of my face

It definitely gets worse as you age

Sometimes I go to the salon

Radiatorvalves · 29/11/2024 19:59

I’ve just started a course of laser treatment for exactly this issue. Only works on dark not fair hairs apparently.

Mercurial123 · 29/11/2024 20:01

I've got a Phillips facial hair remover gadget, it's pretty good.

DrSeuss · 29/11/2024 20:03

I just use the same Brain epilator I use on my legs. Hold the skin taught, only hurts for a moment.

Try dermaplaning (I go to a salon to have it done professionally) my skin is so smooth afterwards.

I also highly rate dermaplaning, though I do it at home now. I then tweeze the one or two thicker hairs that grow out of the tip of my chin (always the same place, they're pernicious).

Have you got a special facial head for it?

I sometimes use that springy stick thing like a threader
