Not sure which to choose

There is the Oral B io range.

I had Philips Sonicare for years but splashed out on an Oral B io and it cleans so well!!

Also agree the waterpik is great to use alongside!

Xiaoxiong · 06/11/2024 21:45

We all have Suri brushes and they are absolutely fantastic. I love the built in timer for the kids as well that forces them to do a full 30 seconds on each quadrant of their teeth.

Xiaoxiong · 06/11/2024 21:46

I also love that the heads are returnable to the company for free and are plastic free and compostable.

Chemenger · 06/11/2024 21:50

I have a Suri, it’s great. Hardly ever needs charging (compared to my previous Oral B) and the heads last ages longer than Oral B as well. I like the magnetic holder as well. The usb charger is also really handy, but I suspect most newer toothbrushes have them?

Bodeganights · 06/11/2024 21:51

I just buy cheap ones off Amazon. They generally come with extra heads, and they tend to last just long enough for all the heads, then die. I think they average about 3 years and cost less than 20 pounds.

croit · 06/11/2024 22:04

Is the Suri not a bit soft and baby brush compared to oral b ?

Boots online often have either Philips heads or Oral B heads on Tuesdays for £10/€12 for all you electric toothbrushers.

croit · 06/11/2024 23:22

Do all the different philips heads fit?

Oral B IO is still rotating/oscillating, not sonic

arinya · 06/11/2024 23:34

My Phillips finally beeped tonight to say it needs charging. I could find the charger and then realised it was still in the my holiday bag, we got back on 28th August. So that’s quite a long time since it’s been charged 😆.

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 07/11/2024 05:01

Love my Ordo and it lasts for ages without having to charge.

I have a Phillips Sonicare. Husband and DC have Oral B Pro something. I have had both and I prefer the Phillips, they prefer the oscillating action of the Oral B. My dentist recommends Sonicare, husband is with a different dentist who recommends Oral B!

Aside from sonic/oscillating difference (which I think it’s mainly personal preference), we have noted the following:

Phillips battery lasts way longer. Can’t remember when I last charged mine. Husband and DC have to charged theirs every 10 days or so. Phillips also takes longer to charge.

Oral B is much louder, feels more mechanical.

Phillips brush heads are more expensive.

Phillips lasts longer overall than Oral B.

Both are at the cheaper end of their range.

Snap!

I've been using a Philips for nearly 10 years (replaced after about 5) and have used an electric toothbrush for around 25 years in total. Added a Philips waterflosser in around 3-4 years ago.

Aged 42 I don't have any fillings and still have gum scores all over of 0/1. I think that's evidence of its effectiveness.

MeetTheFuckers · 07/11/2024 10:05

Are Philipps sonicare the best ones?

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 07/11/2024 10:11

I bought us both Suris 5 weeks ago. Not had to charge them yet, bathroom is far tidier, and my teeth are noticeably whiter. Hygienist yesterday and she said no issues at all with brushing.

Did take a while to get used to the different shape after years of Oral B, but seems to work absolutely fine. Love how neat they are.

Lotsofpots · 07/11/2024 10:11

Suri is excellent. Dentist always comments on how clean my teeth are. Rarely needs charging, you can send the heads back for recycling, very small profile by the sink. Great customer service too.

The only thing that irritates me is that there is nowhere to store the heads so if you share the toothbrush with DP there isn't anywhere for the heads to go, while our old Oral B came with a stand for additional heads.

It doesn't feel soft at all, and you have two settings one of which gives a firmer more intensive clean.

Nobody got a Phillips or a Suri or an Ordo?

I have an ordo. I use it once a day and my old normal electric toothbrush once a day. And I use a waterpik flosser too. Hedging my bets!
My teeth look better after adding the ordo but they feel cleaner with the normal electric toothbrush. I think I just feel the need for scrubbing which is not how sonic brushes work.

Deathraystare · 07/11/2024 10:40

@croit

What do you mean by a 'scrubber' Presumably not it's actual name???? Just asking.

I had a battery operated one and kept forgetting to press the buttons!!!

SirChenjins · 07/11/2024 10:48

I have a Sonicare and really like it - my teeth feel really clean after using it. We have a Waterpik too but have never got on with it, I hate the feeling of that amount of water going everywhere, makes me feel panicky. I far prefer flossing.

Meaning a brush that creates an abrasive action, cleans by vigorous movement of the bristles - unlike sonic

I'm planning to hedge my bets too @Mittens67

I have found the Suri to feel like a babys hairbrush which is not what I think will clean my teeth but maybe I'm wrong....

We have had numerous Phillips Sonicare ones over the years. They have a 2 year warranty and any issue at all they replace no questions asked. I do think you get what you pay for. Our current one cost about £60 and is far superior to the previous £40 one. It feels like it's doing much more thorough job than the cheaper one.
