Tell me about your best sonic toothbrush please
Not sure which to choose

I have Phillips Sonicate, medium range one. Bought in sales.

I have been using them for years, as I can't get on with the Oral B's as they are too fat for my mouth.

I have perfect teeth and gums, don't need to go the hygienist, and don't floss. That could just be genetics of course, but the Sonic brush has been good for me.

Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4300 Electric Toothbrush, Sonic Toothbrush with Two Intensity Levels, Pressure Sensor and Timer, Black, Model HX6800/87
I'm looking at this one (£65)

Don't get black. The black heads are difficult to get hold of, and are more expensive!

BringMeTea · 07/11/2024 13:47

Love my Philips sonicare. We have black and use white heads.
as cheaper. I really don't mind that...

croit · 07/11/2024 14:31

Thank you both, I don't mind mix & match

Do all the brushes fit and which is best?

There are so many variables 😬

I just buy cheaper heads on Amazon that are compatible with the Sonicare - I don't care what colour they are!

Toomanyusernamestochoose · 07/11/2024 15:22

Just started using Suri as part of 100 day trial after using Oral B for the past 15 years (most recently iO). Utterly sick and tired of the appalling battery lives with Oral B toothbrushes, tend to buy the cheaper ones as the fancier ones mostly have bluetooth/AI guidance on where to brush etc which I have no interest in but still found after 1 year, battery life would be max 4-5 days and need to replace whole toothbrush after 2-3 years.

Did consider Sonicare but liked the environmental credentials of Suri. I actually like that they replace when faulty and then use the parts to repair other brushes - this means I am not waiting around without a brush like I am if I send one to Oral B for repair but they are still not disposing of used devices.

Still getting used to the new feel of sonic but no complaints so far. Planning to invest in Waterpik soon too

arinya · 07/11/2024 15:37

We have found the cheaper brushes aren’t as good as the real ones, for both Phillips and Oral B. Too soft but we only tried a few cheap Amazon heads

croit · 07/11/2024 15:53

I would agree with this re Oral B cheap brushes so would assume the same for philips

I leave my Oral B plugged in permanently so no issues with battery life - 10 yrs and counting

I buy the "real"ones when on offer. You need to price match Boots, John Lewis and Amazon. They are often very different prices at different times of the year. I get the W2 optimal white at the moment. I also have three settings on the toothbrush, and often use the gum care one.

Phoenix9 · 07/11/2024 16:03

Another vote for the Phillips Sonicare.
I love mine, it lasts forever too

Despite doing this, the newest Oral B (iO) would die half way through brushing on occasion. This is when it was less than one year old. I can just about tolerate it being constantly plugged in at home - we are lucky we have charging points in the bathroom cupboard but it is so frustrating when away from home. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect to be able to go away for 2 nights without carrying a toothbrush charger with you

(Also to note, Suri charges via USB in the case so no need to carry toothbrush charger at all - this is a major positive for me. Just hoping the cleaning lives upto expectations over the next couple of months)

WelkomInEuropaJonguh · 07/11/2024 16:15

The Suri brush also has an optional UV travel case which cleans the toothbrush in 1 minute.

I was initially disappointed by how soft the brush felt before I used it for the first time (I usually buy firm manual brushes) but it hasn't been an issue.

The first time I used it, I could hardly bear the sensation as it felt so tickly, even on the slower setting, but I got used to it very quickly.

I thought the battery life claim would be a bit exaggerated but it's been every bit as good as they said so far.

croit · 07/11/2024 16:35

Unlucky @Toomanyusernamestochoose

Good to know the softness of the bristles can be got used to @WelkomInEuropaJonguh

I've got a Phillips. It's probably 10yo. Works beautifully and cleans well. I can't say that my mouth feels cleaner than with a manual brush, but my gums don't bleed and the dentist can tell the difference in my mouth.

Chemenger · 08/11/2024 08:52

DH has a Phillips, I’ve used it when I lost my own Suri on holiday. The Phillips is a much harsher action so for someone looking for a more energetic clean it would be better than the gentler Suri. I don’t think DH would like a Suri, he always used hard manual toothbrushes.

StellaNova9 · 08/11/2024 09:02

I’ve been using the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart for a few months now, and I absolutely love it. The brushing power is incredible, and I feel like my teeth are so much cleaner compared to my old toothbrush. The app is super helpful, giving me tips to improve my brushing technique. Battery life lasts about two weeks, which is great, and it looks super sleek on my bathroom counter. It's definitely on the pricier side, but for me, it's worth it for the results.

Nobody got a Phillips or a Suri or an Ordo?

I have a Phillips. They are infinitely preferable to the oral b ones.

Which brush were you using before if you don’t mind me asking?
