I bought mine for £25 from Amazon. It's fine but it feels really weird when you start using it.

Ooh good thread!
I always wondered how do they work?
I know dog toothbrushes have this sonic technology and it's meant to loosen and remove everything from teeth.
But how does it work for human toothbrushes? I've been wanting a Foreo version for ages but it's not cheap and I don't understand if it cleans properly, like in between teeth as a standard brush would do.

Nobody got a Phillips or a Suri or an Ordo?

I hated mine, went back to my trusted Oral B scrubber they never felt clean with a sonic

MissConductUS · 06/11/2024 20:26

I have a Phillips and love it.

croit · 06/11/2024 20:30

I have an ancient Oral b scrubber too which I like but find the heads wear out more quickly these days

I have an ordo. I think it has improved my gums which did used to bleed sometimes, if I wasn't very thorough.
The best bit is the charging case with USB c, this so much better than my old oral b especially as I can't charge in the bathroom.

croit · 06/11/2024 20:32

Which price level of Philips do you have @MissConductUS
Glad to hear you love it

Maybe I should hedge my bets and have both
Scrub AM and sonic PM

Good grief, I thought you meant Sonic the Hedgehog🤔

croit · 06/11/2024 20:36

Do you think it does a good job @GettingStuffed

I have a Suri! Barely ever charge it. Its great. Would recommend

Onand · 06/11/2024 20:37

I use Philips Sonicare 9000 £300 but often on offer for half price or better in Boots, be savvy with your Advantage points and it can be reasonably priced. It’s excellent.

BUT

The absolute GAME CHANGER is my Waterpik Water flosser, just life changing- hygienist always always comments how good my teeth are since using this. Absolutely cannot recommend enough.

arinya · 06/11/2024 20:38

I have a Phillips Sonicare. Husband and DC have Oral B Pro something. I have had both and I prefer the Phillips, they prefer the oscillating action of the Oral B. My dentist recommends Sonicare, husband is with a different dentist who recommends Oral B!

Aside from sonic/oscillating difference (which I think it’s mainly personal preference), we have noted the following:

Phillips battery lasts way longer. Can’t remember when I last charged mine. Husband and DC have to charged theirs every 10 days or so. Phillips also takes longer to charge.

Oral B is much louder, feels more mechanical.

Phillips brush heads are more expensive.

Phillips lasts longer overall than Oral B.

Both are at the cheaper end of their range.

Onand · 06/11/2024 20:40

The Waterpik flosser is an excellent stocking filler by the way.

Agree on the WaterPik. It's amazing what it gets out from between your teeth. I WaterPik first, then brush. My dental hygienist gives me high marks for home care.

unsync · 06/11/2024 20:41

Philips, prefer it to Oral B.

croit · 06/11/2024 20:41

waterpick does sound interesting but my main concern is plaque removal

I've got an Ordo. I got it about a week ago and struggling with it a bit. I've never even had an electric toothbrush before, but the dentist recommended I stop using a manual one because of my gum recession.

The sonic one feels even harsher than a manual though, I'm scared to do my gum line too much with it.

Sorry meant to say the Oral B takes longer to charge than the Phillips.

I nearly bought a Suri but read it wasn’t as powerful as the Phillips so didn’t bother. And the Suri was more expensive. It is supposed to be more eco friendly but people online have said Suri don’t replace parts, they just sent a replacement, which seems less eco friendly

It's so old I don't recall. Get the cheapest one. All you get for paying more is features like alerting you when you have had the brush on for a certain time period. The cleaning action is the same for all of them.

RandomMess · 06/11/2024 20:53

I'm on my 2nd sonicare. I am very annoyed they stopped doing the mini/small brush heads. Standard are too large for my mouth.

Use dupe ones but they are too soft really.

I thought OralB did one that is sonic and oscillates, that was my plan for the next purchase. Will be gutted if they don't.

FavouriteYellowChair · 06/11/2024 20:55

I’ve had an Ordo for about 3 years since my dentist ordered me to get a sonic toothbrush. It’s the first I’ve owned so I don’t have anything to compare it with, but it’s made a massive difference over manual brushing. I find it comfortable and easy to use. It’s still going strong and working perfectly and the replacement heads aren’t too ruinous. Recently invested into the charging case (which is just a travel case with a hole for a charging cable, but works well) and am happy with that too. It holds a charge forever - I reckon I just charge it about every couple of months, and I use it for the full specified time at least twice a day.

TeamPolin · 06/11/2024 21:00

Our whole family have Philipps sonicare ones. They really do work at keeping plaque away. I hardly take any time at all when I'm at the hygienist these days. The only downside is they don't last forever. About 3 years and they seem to pack up and need replacing.

croit · 06/11/2024 21:36

If there is such a thing as an Oralb sonic I would be interested
