Not bought jeans in years but after weightloss just tried on his.

What would that translate to in women's sizes?

I googled

Well done on your weight loss.

It’s between a 12 and 14.

troppibambini6 · 29/10/2024 15:48

28-10
30-12
32-14
34-16

I used to sell Jeans.

Purplecatshopaholic · 29/10/2024 15:48

Given the wide variation in sizing and between brands, I’d order a few 12, 14, maybe even 10 and 16 as well, and see what fits best.

troppibambini6 · 29/10/2024 15:49

That's just a starting point though jeans all fit differently depending on style

Hmm I was a size 16 in trousers 2 stone ago so I can't still be a 16? Unless jeans are completely different?

I'm 10st 5lbs and 5ft5 if that helps

Jeans have gone a bit weird.
DD is wandering around in brand new jeans with a 8/29 size label on.

Honestly, I often just buy men's jeans now. The sizes are more reliable and the denim is better quality.

Yh these are Levis he bought from a carboot and they're comfy, they're too short for him so he's never worn them, might just nick them.

Enjoy your new jeans 😄

Yeah, my waist is 32 and I'm mostly a size 12 in jeans (cough vanitysizing).
But men's jeans aren't going to account for the greater tendency of women to be in and outy. Are you attempting to order some online? Because I feel jeans are one of those things you really need to brave the shops for, so you can try a few pairs on.

Comefromaway · 29/10/2024 16:08

I'm a Size 12 clothes and wear 29 or 30 inch jeans depending on the brand. My Levis are 29 inch

I’d be very surprised if you were a 14/16 and a 34 inch waist at that height and weight.

When I was 10st at 5’3 I was in size 10 jeans and 29 inch waist. You may be better just going into the shops and trying a few sizes on!

NunyaBeeswax · 29/10/2024 16:17

Mens jeans are comfortable imo.
The waist band seems to sit just below my tummy and there's a little more room... For obvious reasons.. in the crotch and arse.
They're not as stretchy though, or at least the ones ive liberated from people bought with my own money don't seem to stretch much anyway.

OP have you actually measured around your waist and hips and where the jeans sit on you?

HousefulofIkea · 29/10/2024 16:18

Are you actually wearing the jeans on your true waist or lower? A lot of people wear jeans quite low slung and as soon as you go below your waist you start to widen to the hip, so it will depend on how you wear them what size you'd be.

I find mens jeans fit better around the bum and hips for me.

SereneQuail · 29/10/2024 16:20

A 16 to 18 depending on cut in old fashioned vintage jeans.
Could be absolutely anything in modern jeans - you just have to try everything on my actual waist is 34 inches my jeans vary from a 12 to a 20.

Soluckyinlove · 29/10/2024 16:20

Mens jeans for me still. When I was young there was no other choice.

fashionqueen0123 · 29/10/2024 16:22

Probably a size 16.
Im a size 8-10 and my jeans are usually about a 26 if they label them that way and that’s what I measure with a tape. Depends on the brand.

FridayNight1975 · 29/10/2024 16:24

As others have suggested, you should try in the shop.

I’m usually a size 10 and my husband bought 32in jeans yesterday. There’s no way he’s only a couple of sizes bigger than me.

I’m the same height and at that weight I wore size 14 jeans. I depends on your shape too of course - and the style and brand!

buckleten · 29/10/2024 16:38

I'm 5'5" too and around 10 stone - a 12 usually fits me fine, Places with generous sizing like Next usually a 10 is best.

Yes if you’re straight up, and don’t have a definable waist, not if you’re hour glass shape.

Mumuzuzu · 29/10/2024 17:05

I'm a funny apple. All tum and no bum.

OP is talking about men’s jeans. A man’s 34 is almost always between a 12 and 14.
