Christmas Day top

Blindoptimism · 08/10/2024 20:44

Inspired by the post about a glamorous Christmas jumper- but what I would like is a nice top wear at home on Christmas Day. I do want to be comfy but also want bit of glitz or sequin.

However I always get hot and end up ditching anything like a jumper or anything that’s at all itchy. So the search goes on!

Maybe slightly festive colour but looking for more sophisticated than full on Christmassy. Any ideas? Am size 10/12 brunette and 50

If you’re looking for a Christmas top Edinburgh Woollen Mill and Bon Marche often have the long sleeved T shirts in 100% cotton. This one is pretty https://www.ewm.co.uk/2148202

Got my eye on this. Quite casual tho.

I bought this a couple of years ago and, I know, it's out of stock but I wear it every year still. I love the colours, it's light and feels fancy.

I'm sure something like this will be about this year.

Rina66 · 10/10/2024 19:30

I've bought a deep red satin bomber style shirt to wear this year with black cropped leather wide leg trousers and maybe leopard backless mules, undecided on the shoes yet, I've also got a black kitten heel bow mule from Zara last year - but I love the Zara red shoes below, they'll match my bomber perfectly. I've also bought a blouse from Next the Kew Collection - I like a patterned top on Christmas Day as I do the cooking and always spill something.

What about a waistcoat style top? Good for not overheating! I have a few that look good with wide leg trousers.
this one is a lovely festive shade of red

Thanks that is nice! I’m not sure if it’s quite what I’m after but pretty close. Ideally I’d have some sleeves but I think I’m getting too picky - hence never succeeding

oh yes I like that. Might try it on; might fail my overheating test but I do like it, so maybe for other things

Ooh nice! A bit more glam than I will manage, I won’t get shoes on!

I like this too but I think I’m on a traditional vibe so thinking red or green

Oh yes lovely! I probably just haven’t looked hard enough but I haven’t really seen things like this. Also not sure if it would pass the menopausal heat test! I think my requirements are quite tough

This is nice but it seems like something I could get elsewhere cheaper. I’d be hoping it’s something I’d wear more than once.

Sunsetsandcocktails · 11/10/2024 10:20

I wore this M&S sparkly top last year (with faux suede leggings), it’s quite thin so definitely no over heating and is nice and sparkly in real life. They will probably do something similar this year I’m sure

Oh I love that! My whole thing with all of this is I just can’t work out how warm I’d get. I had this a couple of years back at a Xmas meal out and I really liked it - except it had to come off almost immediately cos I got too warm

Yes that’s v nice. It sounds like I need to look harder at M&S tops to find a thin one. This thread is really helpful, I so appreciate it

Oh yes I wear things forever. I have far too many tops from 20 years ago. Possibly because I’m ridiculously fussy!

This one in M&S looks nice - not cotton but looks thin. www.marksandspencer.com/jersey-sparkly-round-neck-blouse/p/clp60702159?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share
