Anybody else who is 5 ft 2 and has a horrendous time getting the right length /fit in trousers?

Just wondering if anybody experiences the same problems has me when getting trousers.

I find they are always too long even when I go for petite lengths.
They are also too wide baggy at the bottom and look terrible on me.

I do have quite short legs about a 25 and a half inside leg.
I can just about get away with a 27" inside leg with a heel.
I also always have to find a straight slim leg trouser which is not always that easy.
Does anybody else have this problem.

I go to charity shops where Next clothes are abundant ... because despite what people moan about Next, their quality is slightly better than average and the clothes wear well.

Definitely I’m barely scraping 5ft2 120lbs I have a long torso but short legs and I’m so tired of having to always wear heels with jeans because of my short little legs I have no clue how to sew so I just am stuck wearing heels with jeans and I absolutely love flats but can’t find pants in the right length and I to look hideous in petite size pants I just wish I could stretch my legs a few inches

lovemylover · 27/03/2018 09:33

Yes, i am just under 5ft, and hate shopping for trousers, but my main buys are M&S they have short sizes, so do Bon Marche, lots of them, but always seem too wide
Last night i accidentally clicked on to Ideal World on TV, and they had some gorgeous trousers on at £19-99 a pair or 2 for £25, they were 27" length, and stretchy material,in all colours, thinking of getting some, you can return if you dont want or like them, they were ankle grazers, but just the right length for me, [might be slightly long] but take a look, very good value i thought, also lots on their website, very reasonable price

5ft here....the only work trousers that fit for me are Mango or Zara. Still have to shorten them (but only by 2 inches so doesn't effect overall shape).
All others are too long in the fly (button to crotch) and too big in the hips. Would love to buy Arkett, Cos, Joseph etc for quality but they just don't fit.

Next/M&S no good either, even in petite.

Neganforever · 27/03/2018 10:36

I'm 5ft 2 but have a short torso and long legs, so regular in most shops seem to be ok, sometimes a teeny bit long, but petite length will always be ankle flappers!

ArkAtEee · 27/03/2018 13:04

Take them to a local tailor. It costs about £5 to have them shortened. They will also take in the waist if you need to buy larger due to big bottom like me! Grin

fishonabicycle · 27/03/2018 16:17

M&S might be short enough but come up so bloody baggy - am 5 foot and their 8s are too big. As are next (although they do some sixes that are ok).

dontcallmelen · 27/03/2018 17:17

I get my jeans from top shop Jamie petite ankle grazer ones are a really good length, also river island & for jeggings M&S petite short are really good as well.
Next are always to big, I think the sizing has has got bigger, I’m 4ft 10” my problem is that I have a very small waist no hips, but a 32e chest so dresses are really difficult, especially if they have a side zip fastening I then have to get a ten & have the the waist & hips altered, I am fortunate that I know a really good seamstress.

agedknees · 28/03/2018 14:58

Précis petite are good for dresses. I am 4ft 11 and find m&s short trousers fine. Next petite are good too.

KirstenRaymonde · 28/03/2018 15:05

Why had a 10 year old thread been resurrected?

But the best trousers for short curvy women I’ve found are Gap bi-stretch trousers in petite. They’re perfect.

MolliewithOllie · 28/03/2018 15:56

I buy so-called ankle grazers - they are about the right length.

Zintox · 28/03/2018 18:55

I know it’s a pain but you could always get things altered. A good seamstress can replicate the original hem, slim legs, move waists and more. Find someone who works for themselves and not through a dry cleaner and they should offer fittings.

CandidPearlOP · 25/11/2024 10:46

Yes I'm 5ft 1inch petite frame wearing 12 14 sizes clothes .
Trousers are a nightmare to find right length and width of leg .
Either baggy on leg or skin tight and far too long .
I myself measured my inside length is 26inch leaves enough for over boots and shoes still flattering.
I get so down fighting with designers to listen .
So ladies I agree with you.

CandidPearlOP · 25/11/2024 10:49

But to pay for alterations is another price on your cost of the trousers .
We want to be able to wear the trousers.
