OK, I will be brutally honest here. I don't know how tall you are, but I think you will look a bit frumpy in a maxi dress and a cropped jacket. What are your legs like? If OK, a knee length dress or skirt with heels will do wonders for your figure. I think the cropped jacket will cut you off in teh wrong place too

Slouchy · 22/04/2008 20:41

Sorry, I hate the dress though the jacket is pretty.
It is trendy but not in a good way, IMO.

Tell more of your shape - busty? bum? what are your best bits etc and lets see if we can do better.

Flamesparrow · 22/04/2008 20:42

No.

MamaG · 22/04/2008 20:42

...and I'm speaking as someone who was recently a size 18

singyswife · 22/04/2008 20:43

Am taking an interest in this thread as have posted else where for help finding a wedding outfit. Am a size 16-18 (17 I think lol) and want something nice so am taking an interest in this one.

flowerybeanbag · 22/04/2008 20:45

I am not a fan of maxi dresses and I think they only look vaguely reasonable on people who are size 8 or less and 5'9" and over.

swiftyknickers · 22/04/2008 20:45

am 5'9
hate hate hate my legs-fat knees big calves
have horrid tummy but quite hourglass and have reaonable tits in a decent bra
bum is nice
see ithought a maxi dress was good for me as hate my legs so much

i feel like i'm on how to look good naked!!!

MamaG · 22/04/2008 20:46

I think only the talla nd thin can carry off a maxi dress.

princessmel · 22/04/2008 20:47

I don't like long dresses. And I'm 5"7 and a bit. I think like the other have said , you need to be Gisele to look decent in them.

Sorry .

Slouchy · 22/04/2008 20:48

this is nice - not so trendy but smart and possibly more flattering?

Slouchy · 22/04/2008 20:49

The black and white skirt, not the pencil skirt BTW

swiftyknickers · 22/04/2008 20:49

see i wore a beautiful one last year, purple and everyone said i looked stunning in it-shit maybe they were just being nice!!!

cocolepew · 22/04/2008 20:49

Sorry no to dress and i don't think the jacket would suit your shape.

cocolepew · 22/04/2008 20:50

Nice link though

swiftyknickers · 22/04/2008 20:52

thanks

TillyScoutsmum · 22/04/2008 20:57

Ok - I'm going to disagree a bit ... I'm not keen on that maxi dress and I think you would benefit from something with a bit more structure BUT I do think you could do a maxi dress with your height. Agree the jacket would cut you off though..

Alternatively

top

trousers

coat

and some high strappy shoes

swiftyknickers · 22/04/2008 21:01

oh tilly nice-i didnt know coast went up to an 18!!

ok am loathe to agree that that maxi dress is wrong, too trendy and would nowt for me-i do suit glamour more (not knockers out glamor!!) and should go for aomething a bit more classic!
