Black or white not at rural weddings -you will be thought to be attention seeking. Perfectly ok at urban do.

swiftyknickers · 22/04/2008 21:26

yeah no hat-have some curlers and hair looks gorgeous when done like that, dark eyes, red lippy

I'm north of the Watford Gap and think black is fine for weddings (personally like coloured accessories to brighten it up a bit)

love that frilly dress

Slouchy · 22/04/2008 21:27

See this is what I think. But mil says no.(who always wears a ghastly hat _"its a wdding, of course you need a hat. Where's your hat, Slouchy?" and who does top-to-toe black at funerals (with little string of pearls, natch)

maidamess · 22/04/2008 21:29

I could eat these

WaynettaSlob · 22/04/2008 21:29

rural smural - I've worn black to weddings for years - urban and rural, v.v.v.v.posh and 'normal' and have never been out of place.
White is a definite no-no.

Hats not necessary, but hair must be dressed - be it in an up-do, curled, or with some sparkly thingy in it or a fascinator or whatever. Un-done hair/head undoes an outfit. Long straight hair is not enough.

maidamess · 22/04/2008 21:32

Oh yeah, thats the one I meant, not the maxi. Too shroudy.

swiftyknickers · 22/04/2008 21:33

thanks maidamess-might be alright with me spanx on!!!i have a defined waist (and very defined hips!!!!)so might work-need to hunt it down
