Today, several whipping on and off of talc filled disposal gloves,
large nappies sticky sides,
tin of coke,
typing (now)
putting on and taking off micropore tape on dd's mangy thumb
still intact.

OK...here's my top tips

Superdrug base coat with silk - 1 coat (brilliant and cheap)

then....

whatever colour you fancy (CHanel and estee lauder polishes last the longest). 2 coats

then...

top coat of either revlon top speed, or chanel top coat.

then

let it dry for at least an hour before you do anything much.

will last for 3 days, but on day 3 you will have the odd small chip if you've done cods tasks.....

Scroll back and look for it you lazy bints.
Max Factor nailfinity.
Still ok. Frankly I'm shocked , it never stays on me for more than 24 hours. . It's more expensive than I usually pay (still got it in sale), but it is proving to be value for money.

cremolafoam · 24/04/2008 17:08

right have ruby and millie turquoise on.
have
A opened a can of whiskas cat food
B scrubbed a wok
C opened a new toothbrush in plastic packaging and a sealed bottle of mouthwash

D typed all day this week
E done the sellotape challenge while wrapping a birthday pressie for my sister.

It is still on
BUT vey scraped at the tips- not chipped but not smooth anymore
would say it has ost 10% coverage

at this point i would not remove it but might touch it up at the tips
I am Day 2 only

do I get a badge

RubySlippers · 24/04/2008 18:08

ok - here are my results so far

i bought a No 17 fast finish polish called
"ruby slippers"!

Couldn't believe they had named a polish after moi but my fame has spread far and wide it seems

It is a peachy/pink/sparkly colour (not very ruby-y actually )

£2.79 per bottle

A. open a can of drink - not done this yet
B wash up a saucepan wiht some kind of scourer - scrubbed my pasta pan
C. open something in clear plastic film( like a cd case) - opened DVD case - polish still in place
D. type a lot - oh yes! I have typed nearly all day. Seems to have stayed on so far
E. prize a strip of sellotape off a table or worksurface - am wrapping a present later so will report back

so far, the polish seems to be holding up.

It also has a reasonable shine - i find a lot of fast finish polishes are very matt which i don't like

Just a quick update, have done all the things above this week either at home or at work plus more. Nails are still looking good without any chips. Put 2 layers of it on on Sunday night and now am on Friday and its still looking fresh.

RubySlippers · 26/04/2008 09:26

update on my polish situation:

A. open a can of drink - done and no chips
B wash up a saucepan wiht some kind of scourer - scrubbed my pasta pan
C. open something in clear plastic film( like a cd case) - opened DVD case - polish still in place
D. type a lot - oh yes! I have typed nearly all day. Seems to have stayed on so far
E. prize a strip of sellotape off a table or worksurface - this made my varnish chip slightly

after 3 days, i have 2 chipped nail tips and if i applied another coat then the chips would be covered

i think for a cheapy polish it is V good

Clairef29 · 26/04/2008 22:26

Not tryin to spoil the olympics but I can't join in cos I have acrylics so it wouldn't be a fair test!!
However pre-acrylics I always found Virgin Vie perfectly Polished Nail Colours were fab at staying put! And a couple of my Mums friends swear by them too!
Stil paint my tootsies mind but just not talented enough to carry out the aforementioned tasks with feet!!

largeginandtonic · 27/04/2008 12:40

My no.17 is great. It has withstood children stepping on my feet, flip flops in and out the car (a major hazard) and taking the rubbish out, nightmare as you have to kind of grip the bin with your legs while attempting to not drop the bin on your toes (impossible)

I have not tried to open a can with my toes nor scrub a pan, i'm sorry.

It has just started to chip and i am on day 4.

cocosquarepants · 27/04/2008 18:10

My nail polish, Max Factor nailfinity for those not paying attention, lasted 4 days with no major chips.
It
opened 2 cans of coke a day
ring pull fruit tins
nappy sides
talcy glove
washing dishes
typing
plasters
micropore tape
an altercation with a talking la la's zip
Tiny chips apperred near to the base, and a small one after La La, but it didn't get any worse. It's not the sort of colour I usually wear on my fingers, I bought it for my toes, but I'm very impressed.
9 and a bit out of 10.
