I am but I’m feeling the cold today! It’s lovely and sunny here but I went out in white trainers and no socks this morning and my ankles were freezing. I need to get my jumpers and boots out and pack the t-shirts etc away. I don’t like this time of year!

That sounds very stylish! I love autumn and spring for that… mixing up combinations.

Agree! S&B is costing me money at the moment - just googled Nordic Socks...yesterday it was Brora. Love autumn clothing!

BigDahliaFan · 04/10/2024 09:03

Never really got into them this year, apart from holidays. Wore shorts about 3 times same for dresses...it's been a shit summer here in the north west. Though as previous posters said I wear less summer wardrobe generally than I did when living in south east.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 04/10/2024 09:17

In my experience, the “I wear the same thing all year round” people live in jeans and T-shirts with the addition of a jumper in winter (but as they never pack away the jumpers, they don’t think of them as autumn/winter clothes), and then complain about the heat in summer as they’ve not got suitable summer clothing.

or they are the “gym clothes all year round” (again, add a fleece, take off a fleece being the only change) or they are a suited and booted in air con office all year round.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 04/10/2024 09:17

But no, summer clothes went away about a month ago when it went cold.

DoIhavegreeneyes · 04/10/2024 09:29

Have not worn summer clothes much this year. Always a brisk breeze to lower temperatures.

DappledThings · 04/10/2024 09:32

I don't really have any seasonal clothes. One pair of lighter weight trousers and a couple of pairs of shorts. Otherwise I wear the same dresses year round just with or without tights and an extra jumper. Wouldn't be packing away the tshirts ever, they just go under jumpers instead of on their own.

Never really understood what volumes of special clothes people have that necessitate changing over the whole wardrobe twice a year.

Comefromaway · 04/10/2024 09:53

I'm wearing the same now as I wore in summer. A short black skirt or black trousers and a 3/4 sleeve blouse or long sleeved fitted top. Except in summer I wore it with bare legs and ballet flats (or on hot days a short sleeved fitted top) and today I am wearing it with black opaque tights and a thick blazer. On really colder days I will out a cardigan or jumper over the top. On very hot days I wore a short sleeved lightweight dress. I will wear a long sleeved dress on cooler summer days or add a cardigan on colder autumn/winter days.

TheChosenTwo · 04/10/2024 10:17

Similar to a few others, I don’t really have ‘seasonal’ clothes, just clothes, I don’t put anything away or in the loft for different seasons, I just layer up or down depending on what’s appropriate. There are definitely a few things that I would only take away on a hot holiday but I wear a lot of leggings and T-shirts all year round, dresses with either bare legs or tights, jumper on top or not.
As I mostly wfh I don’t really need a huge array of clothes, I have a double wardrobe and 4 drawers and everything fits in there and there’s still space!

Aroastdinnerisnotahumanright · 04/10/2024 10:21

About a week ago I added a denim jacket and switched to lightweight trousers but am wearing the same summer tops. I don't feel the cold much though, everyone's different.

blobby10 · 04/10/2024 10:22

Still wearing shorts before and after work to walk the dog - but as of next week, the tracksuit bottoms will be on! Not because I'm cold wearing shorts whilst walking but when I get back home in the evenings, I get cold very quickly and find it nigh on impossible to get out from under my blanket on the sofa to do the stuff that really needs doing Grin. Wearing long trousers will be cheaper than putting the heating on.

mondaytosunday · 04/10/2024 10:49

It's mild enough here but I'm wearing a thick cardigan when I walk the dog (snd then am too hot by the end if it) and retired my sandals about ten days ago.

This thread - “I’m in autumn clothes, the thick black tights, boots and jumpers have gone one” or “I don’t have summer and winter clothes, I wear the same thing all year round, I’ve just added thick black tights, swapped sandals and ballet flats for boots and added a jumper or cardie.”

it’s interesting that some people don’t see tights, boots and jumpers as season specific items, even though they don’t wear them in the summer. (even if we have had a couple of rubbish summers, it’s not been thick tights and boots bad!)

Comefromaway · 04/10/2024 10:58

I wear my boots all year round th same as I do my loafers and if it is a colder day I wear my opaque tights in the summer. Surely people don't pack their tights away each year! Jumpers come out on a cool summer evening.

Or they live in the Orkneys.

It's not that I don't consider tights to be season specific, they're just such small items that take up so little space it's an odd concept for the idea of having to change over a whole wardrobe.

Same for jumpers and boots. I don't anywhere near enough of all those items to require a wholesale changeover.

I have one wardrobe that comprises a few items that tend to only get worn at certain times. I don't think of that as being a separate summer/winter wardrobe.

MotherWol · 04/10/2024 11:02

My summer clothes are fairly limited in number - a couple of jersey dresses, some linen shorts and trousers, couple of lightweight knits - and they've been packed away along with my sandals. There's a fair bit of crossover, and things I wear all year round stay out, but my winter boots are out of storage now and I've just bought a new coat to replace the one I sold on Vinted earlier in the year.

My really seasonal clothes fit into a cabin suitcase, and the majority of my wardrobe is all year round, I did a big purge a couple of years ago after pregnancy and I'm very slowly rebuilding my wardrobe. It turns out having limited choice works for me!

Comefromaway · 04/10/2024 11:18

The only season specific items I can think of are my Barbour long puffa coat and a couple of strappy summer beach type dresses. Plus one Christmas jumper! My Max Mara wool coat I wouldn't wear in the height of summer but I would wear it in the Spring. Everything else I wear all year around in varying combinations.

familyissues12345 · 04/10/2024 11:21

I'm in my middle ground, so not into wooly jumpers and vests yet, but wearing my summer T-shirts with a cardi over the top Grin

Shorts were abandoned a while ago, and it takes a lot for me to wear a dress

Summertimer · 04/10/2024 11:34

Yes ish, but it’s been quite a challenge and the summer things I’m wearing are breezy Cornish coastal rather than summer in the city. So pale wide leg jeans, stretchy slip in trainers, longer skirt with sling backs or mules.

I weakened and wore ankle socks rather than trainer socks or no socks the other day. I’m contemplating putting the ankle skimmers trousers away until springtime. Tuesday was so wet here that I was glad it was a wfh day. Wednesday and Thursday were much better and I managed to wear flat ballet pumps, no socks, wide leg trs.

redtrain123 · 04/10/2024 11:40

My main changes are wearing trousers instead of shorts, and now donning a cardi or light jumper. So an extra layer rather than full swop.

chickenlettuceunderbacon · 03/10/2024 17:34

No, it's October.

Word for word what I was going to post! I never dress unseasonally. No boots 1st April to 1st September, no sandals 1st September to 1st March. It was 4 degrees on the school run today - I wore jeans, boots and a big cardi.

Holidayhell22 · 04/10/2024 13:47

It’s actually very sunny here now, although I still went to work in a jumper over my top and thick tights, plus a coat.
It wasn’t hot enough to go bare legged and coat free when I set off this morning.
I also don’t tend to wear much black in summer. Plenty of black in autumn and winter but I consciously avoid black if I can in summer.

QuestionableMouse · 04/10/2024 13:56

RampantIvy · 04/10/2024 05:39

Why not?

I have shorts, sleeveless tops, summer trousers, summer skirts, sandals and summer dresses for warm weather.

I wear jeans and jumpers in winter as well as socks and boots.

I would find summer clothes too cold in winter and jeans too hot in summer.

I'm poor 😆

I do wear tights, boots, and jumpers in the summer. It still gets cold at night, even in July and August.

deeahgwitch · 04/10/2024 17:07

All shortsleeved dresses, which I mostly wear, have been washed and put away Sad
I don't like autumn, winter and very early spring.
