"Doc" style boots

I'd love a pair of flat black boots to wear with dresses and jeans. I'm quite short and a bit chunky in thighs so find Dr Martens make me look a bit stumpy as they are very round in the toe.

Is there such thing as a similar style flat boot but with a more pointy/almond shape toe?

Check Pavers website

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 15/09/2024 12:20

The main alternatives for "Doc style" utilitarian boots are
Solvair
Lanx
Grenson
Joseph Cheaney.

I know what you mean about the overly rounded toe. I'm not self- critical about my shape (although I'm sure some posters here would say I'm all of the things you criticise yourself for) but looking down at my feet in them they made me think of Minnie Mouse. It was the boots that weren't great looking, not me. They were also so uncomfortable I gave them away.

Good choice of brands @IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle , I was surprised by Pavers they had several in my opinion nice leather boots for under £100

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 15/09/2024 12:46

DD has these from m&s

I was a Doc Martens girl but have moved to Fly London boots in my middle age.

www.flylondonshop.co.uk/

They are well made, last ages and so, so comfortable. My mate with skinny legs wears them just as well as I do with my chunky legs. The calf length boots are really flattering and actually make me look like I have skinny ankles (I really don't).

I wouldn't have thought of Pavers but there's a few there too. I forgot about Fly as well.

Heavenly Feet and Rieker do Doc-alike boots and about half the cost.

Heavenly Feet not leather.

Rieker DD had the shoe version of these for school a couple of years ago. They didn't last long - only about a term and a half of everyday wear. The www doesn't say what the uppers are made of.

Thistooshallpass24 · 15/09/2024 13:01

@IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle yeah to be honest I was really surprised! I've had surgery and can't wear my regular winter boots ( actually sad about this) so sold all my lovely Doc's including rigger boot style that were great for standing on the sidelines etc, fly London etc. I was recommended Pavers and though nope never, but did look, you have to wade through some "interesting designs" but I've bought a couple to try, they had great customer service, and free returns to store & it's 45 days return window

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 15/09/2024 13:06

There's also Blundstone

I have Lanx and Joseph Cheaney. They were both comfortable from day one.

Thistooshallpass24 · 15/09/2024 13:11

Blundstone are great but don't wear them in the beach! I don't mean with your swimwear, but if you walk on the beach ( dogs etc) it does something weird to soles of some blundstone boots ( I know three ppl who've ruined their boots that way) You can get lace up blundstone not just pull on, again I've had them and I can wear them so sold on ( I loved mine, they were shiraz leather)

Doje · 15/09/2024 13:17

I found this pair in Asda for £23.

"Doc" style boots
Thistooshallpass24 · 15/09/2024 13:30

@Doje but they aren't leather so not able to be polished, they will last 1/2 years tops as a boot and will sit in landfill forever .

Waitformetoarrive · 15/09/2024 15:36

Lanx are great boots and will last forever. 10% off too.

notacooldad · 15/09/2024 15:39

Definitely Lanx.
I have several pairs and they will probably outlast me!

KirstenBlest · 15/09/2024 15:59

I have some new Grensons that I've not worn yet (they're quite similar to the Lanx Dinckley ) and more than one pair of Solovairs.
Womens Boots | Grenson
NPS Solovair | Womens Boots, Shoes & Loafers | Made in England – Tagged "Boot" – NPS Solovair UK (nps-solovair.com)
Women's - Brown - Dark - Leather - Derby Boots – LANX (lanxshoes.com)

The ones I wear most are the Black Hi-Shine Dealer Boot | Solovair | Handmade in England – NPS Solovair UK (nps-solovair.com).
If you want lace-ips, there are Astronaut boots.

KirstenBlest · 15/09/2024 16:27

The Lanx Outlet and Solovair Outlet are worth checking.

Thistooshallpass24 · 15/09/2024 16:53

I find lanx narrow, compared to DM's and solovair

KirstenBlest · 15/09/2024 17:04

Leather Lace-Up Boots - RKR32519 / null (pavers.co.uk)
bargain leather boots

Thistooshallpass24 · 15/09/2024 17:16

@KirstenBlest they are in one of the styles I was referring to up thread

KirstenBlest · 15/09/2024 17:18

Oh, sorry.

KirstenBlest · 15/09/2024 17:18

Oh, sorry.

Chillilounger · 15/09/2024 17:53

Can you please link the Lanx outlet? I can find the Solovair one but not the Lanx.
