Ladies, Honest Opinions Of This Dress?

So to start, I added a picture of a pair of shoes I own that I've been searching for a dress to pair with. I've since come across the dress shown in photo, and I imagine it to be a match made in heaven. I know it's kinda Barbie haha but I love the 1950s look. I would unbutton the dress more from the top so it isn't so Stepford wife though haha what do you ladies think? I'm also thinking it would be so cute for a maternity look (pregnant with a daughter). Just wanted some honest 2nd opinions so please feel free to share your thoughts with me!! <3

Heinous. Looks like SuperNanny in some weird Hentai lolita get-up.

redtrain123 · 10/09/2024 13:24

I actually quite like it. It’s quite a bold dress, but if you have the confidence for it, I think it will look great.

TheActualAudacity · 10/09/2024 13:25

I dislike both and they absolutely don’t work together. If one had to wear that dress, it would require heels.

Anywherebuthere · 10/09/2024 13:28

I was expecting to see a stunning dress but this is awful. The shoes are ok.

AyeupDuck · 10/09/2024 14:19

If you want to look like, you work in a 1950’s beauty parlour in the Deep South go ahead.

Overtheatlantic · 10/09/2024 14:21

Looks like something Kirstie Allsop would wear.

UmbrellaEllaEllaElla · 10/09/2024 14:21

I think this is the kind of dress that really depends on the person wearing it.

It's bold and very different.

YellowRoom · 10/09/2024 14:25

Think dressing gown, salon uniform or tea lady.

SunflowerJones · 10/09/2024 14:29

The OP's shoes are Roger Vivier. I suppose OP might have got hers in a sale or Vinted but flats similar to hers start at over £600 rising to over £1400

I genuinely thought they were croc ballet flats.

Gosh that is very expensive - and you really wouldn't think so when looking at them.

I also think £194 is expensive for a dress for most people - especially for one which is so distinctive.

Jackdog39 · 10/09/2024 17:10

I'm so sorry but I thought it was a dressing gown when I swiped across. I'm not a fan of the shoes either they look like the plastic shoes I used to put on my Sindy doll. But, you must like it, order it and see if you still like it when it arrives. You can always send it back, that's the joy of online shopping. I find I'm endlessly disappointed with the majority of my online purchases but you might love it.

madmumofteens · 10/09/2024 17:21

I don't like it sorry looks like a dressing gown 🤔

TemuSpecialBuy · 10/09/2024 17:24

Shoes are fine/nice
dress is “ a look”

worn together I would assume you were going to a fancy dress party

LocalHobo · 10/09/2024 17:29

I don’t love the dress but think the right person could pull it off. Not with those shoes though. I’d wear it with heels. I could imagine Meghan (Duchess of Sussex) looking stunning in it.

thefamous5 · 10/09/2024 18:32

I actually think it's quite cute! Yes it's cutesy and a bit steptford but I wouldn't write it off until I'd tried it on. It's different and a bit kooky.

bananaboats · 10/09/2024 19:43

Dont like either but I think the shoes are even worse than the dress!

StrongAutumn · 10/09/2024 19:44

Sorry, I don't like this at all.

Doingmybest12 · 10/09/2024 19:52

I like it OP but not with the heels and I don't like the pink shoes , some laced up pumps would be better.

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 10/09/2024 19:53

I'm not keen OP. But if you like it and would feel good in it then go for it!

Not sure why people are trying to be as nasty as possible about a dress?

Cheeesus · 10/09/2024 19:57

Cute on the right person. But I don’t think it works for maternity wear. Waistbands generally don’t.
