GHDs broken !! <<faint>> best alternative??

apparently a new pair is now £150 !!!

cannot quite stretch to that right now, so any tips for 'almost as good as, but not as eye wateringly expensive as GHDs' please!

i know it is a false economy as GHDs aer the best, but i cannot live without straighteners whilst i save up for GHDs

DD has sent 2 pairs back over the last 3 years ..was not asked for proof of purchase worth a go..was sent new ones both times within a week

ImightbeLulumama · 21/04/2008 21:53

thanks.. do you send them to their head office, the address on the box?

these below have been mentioned - I bought them couple months ago from Boots for my daughter, after the electrical lady there said they are as good as GHD...5 year guarantee too.
She demo'd them on daughter in the shop and they really ARE as good if not better (daughter says better) than GHD.

Just read these reviews :

www.amazon.co.uk/BaByliss-2085U-Pro-230°C-Straighteners/dp/B000BFN80I

also if you look on ebay there are a few GHD repairers, selling their work in the listings.
Seem ok if you read the feedback. Think its about a tenner to send them off and they will repair and send them back to you.

Ooops i shoulda read the whole thread!

Slightlymadsweet has rec'd these already.
I bought them when they were £40 in Boots. I agree about the switch though, totally wrong place.

ImightbeLulumama · 23/04/2008 13:11

thank you ! totally ridicolous place for a switch, makes them impossible to use.

remington straight in a stroke: fantastic ! very pleased with them, and i bought a 5 year guarantee!

Sorry....I missed this on Monday....there is a solution toe the Bablyiss switch....hold them upside down!!!

mypandasgotcrabs · 23/04/2008 17:06

I've just paid £62 for some Mk4 GHDs from America (with a UK plug), will find the site in a bit.

Lovesdogsandcats · 23/04/2008 18:10

I have just emailed babyliss about this switch.

Slightlymad, but if you hold them upside down wont your thumb turn them off?

they are my daughters not mine but imagining it now and can picture them still turning off?

ImightbeLulumama · 23/04/2008 20:27

i tried that SMS !! no dice !

thanks, mypandasgotcrabs. erm , unusual name you have there

dunno...I saw other people mention it a few times (in the reviews and here). Whilst I do turn them off occassionally I have also realised that I tend to end up using them upside down somehow without realising it so thought that might be why.

SlightlyMadSweet · 23/04/2008 21:17

(i.e I saw people mention they were accidentally turned off - the upside down bit is my own obs)

mypandasgotcrabs · 23/04/2008 21:26

here

It was £69 total including p&p.

Lol! The names a chat up line of mine & my friends!
