Max's mum looks like Olivia Coleman playing the Queen in season 2 of The Crown!

😂
I wouldn't have thought they were Max's parents!

Has she got an eternity ring for each child or is the new one to do with her cancer battle?

Perhaps her engagement ring is not fitting as well as before or is less comfortable

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 11/10/2024 11:22

There have never been any details released as to the significance/meaning of any of her rings, I don't think.

Choux · 11/10/2024 12:08

Looking at the photo @frugalkitty posted, the sapphire and Diamond band and the diamond eternity ring look big. I think the ring nearest the fingertip could be for security to prevent them slipping off. Am sure this year has been stressful and she has likely lost weight since she got the eternity ring.

I also wonder if Big Blue is the official engagement ring but she found it too big to wear every day hence the sapphire band. She might have had that for years as her 'private' engagement ring but it's only this year that we have seen it. Did she wear Big Blue to TTC and Wimbledon?

just my musings - we'll never know when the rings started to be worn and why.

Yes she did wear big blue to TTC and Wimbledon - but it looked a big big both times so perhaps she has decided to go for the stacked rings so she doesn't have to think about it

justasking111 · 11/10/2024 13:22

Honestly with that rings history I wouldn't have touched it with a barge pole as an engagement ring. especially post cancer. Let it go into the tower of London collection. Ditto Elizabeth's ring.

I'm somewhat superstitious though .

eggandonion · 11/10/2024 13:32

I think Diana's ring should be in the vault. It could still be The Princess of Wales ring...just not worn. It must be slightly strange for King and Queen to see it.
Maybe Charlotte could get it remodelled.

No leave it be. It's too infamous.

My dd1 reckons she is entitled to Mils engagement ring. Mil had a long and grumpy marriage, she has 4 daughters who also feel entitled.
If the inlaws had a vault I would put it there.

She's a long way down the food chain then. I've no idea what happened to my grannies jewellery. I know she wanted me to have her kocket she told the family often enough. I got her tea service which I do cherish.

eggandonion · 11/10/2024 14:09

Dd1 is the daughter of mils eldest son. Like Princess Charlotte!
I have my Granny's wedding china, what remains of it. It has a very big sugar bowl. It lives in a cabinet.
I would consign Diana's ring and mils ring to a cabinet.
My cousin has her mum's engagement ring, which she was given when she was going shopping for one like it.
Rings are very personal, aren't they. I like Kates current rings!

I thought Maureen Lipman!

I like the analogy. My two grandmothers each left their diamond engagement rings to their respective oldest granddaughter. Neither of which was me! My older sister and my cousin were the recipients. Luckily we managed to avoid a family feud over it. 😀

I’d say like something out of a late period Buñuel movie.

MotherofPearl · 11/10/2024 17:28

I think Max's mother looks very glamorous. You can see where she gets her sense of sartorial drama from.

RockaLock · 11/10/2024 18:27

Mary looking bright and cheerful in the rain today. I love the colour of her coat!

Stephanie out and about, sadly without our mascots today.

I haven't found a decent photo of her outfit, but I really like her hair. It looks a bit softer and lighter, I think.

Oh my, Mary’s coat is gorgeous!

I see a state visit from Qatar has been announced for December. I wonder if we’ll see one of the royal ladies earring this ruby necklace, which was a gift from a previous Emir of Qatar to QEII?

Eaumyword · 11/10/2024 19:23

Ooh yes, that pumpkin colour coat is fabulous!
As is that huge ruby tiara/crown!

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 11/10/2024 19:56

@Serenster if anyone does it'll be the Queen, as she's already worn it (for the Japanese State Visit). I don't suppose she'll share 'her' tiaras unless she's decided to approach things completely differently to the late Queen. Wouldn't it be fun, though, to see Sophie wearing it!

AllTangledUpInMyMonkeyNutNecklace · 11/10/2024 19:58

Ah fiddlesticks...I see you mentioned the necklace not the tiara...I blame my horrendous toothache! I think Sophie should wear the necklace!

Pallisers · 11/10/2024 21:41

Mary's coat is fabulous.

KillingMeDeftIy · 11/10/2024 21:56

It's a nice coat but it makes Mary look like she's been tangoed!

justasking111 · 11/10/2024 22:19

I have a cape type jacket in that colour. It's 25 years old. I ought to dig it out this month 🤣

RomainingToBeSeen · 11/10/2024 23:26

That orange coat is gorgeous. Something not quite right with the length of the coat and dress but can't put my finger on what is 'off'.

I agree with you @justasking111 - the big sapphire should be consigned to a museum, vault or The Tower. I wouldn't want to wear it.
