Anyone on mumsnet had a boobjob?

I have decided to have a breast enlargement and wondered if anyone here has had one and can offer me any advice? I have seen a really good surgeon who has agreed to do the surgery and I'm not too worried but I wondered if anyone can say how long they were out of action for (picking up dc's and driving etc). Also, how did you approach telling people? I think this is the thing that I worry about most of all as until recently I have always been against this kind of surgery so the whole thing embarrasses me a bit. However, I am really looking forward to it. I am completely flat chested (not even a AA cup) so I can't wait to be able to buy bra's that fit and swimming costumes etc. Thanks anyone for any advice.

I'm a 32E at the moment and love them, I'm sure they will go back down when I stop bf though.

I started out at 32B and got bigger over time and with more children. After ds1 I remained a D, then went to DD and finally E when pregnant with ds2.

I'm a size 8 but they don't look too big on me, sometimes I don't even think they look that big but I suppose that's down to clothes.

pigleto · 18/04/2008 12:53

I like small boobs. They look athletic and sexy.

My cousin had an enlargement a-c. She was fine after a fortnight and she loves her new look. She wants them bigger now though.

mamabutters · 18/04/2008 12:57

I had a boob job at 21 (nearly ten years ago), like you I felt very out of proportion, with naturally an ample size 12 bottom half, and a 32aa chest (on a good day). I'd starved myself to a size 8 all over to try and compensate and was generally pretty miserable. I went to a 34b, and my body image improved no end.

I think in retrospect it was the right thing to do for me at the time, but i don't know If i would consider doing it if I was in the same position now, a little older and wiser...althought they don't last forever, and at some point I'm going to have to either remove them and live with windsock-like boobs,or have them replaced!

I would just say that if you DO decide to go for it, then make sure you go to a great surgeon. I went to my doctor, who actually recommended a local consultant who is usually a maxiofacial surgeon who also worked privately, rather than going through one of the slightly more dubious ones you see in the backs of magazines.

Also, mine are "under the muscle" and tear drop shaped...you'd never know unless i told you

Dropdeadfred · 18/04/2008 13:03

mamabutter - when will you need yours doing again then?

undertheknife · 18/04/2008 13:06

mamabutters, thanks - i am sure my self confidence will improve also. I did ask about how often they need to be changed and was told the newer implants have lifetime guarantees - obviously things can happen but they are different from the ones you might have had 10 years ago. I spent ages researching surgeons - he is suppose to be the best in my area. I will also have a tear shape under the muscle (at the top).
