Please fix my eyebags

Onthedoubleline · 06/08/2024 22:18

I’m only 38, I’ve always had dark circles but they’ve grown into proper eye bags now and I feel so haggard. The rest of my skin is very clear, slightly combination.

Id love to hear anything that has worked, Botox or lifestyle, Facebook creams.

Thanks so much x

Please fix my eyebags

I agree that you're not suitable for tear trough filler. It could make those bags worse. I was saying in another thread that I wouldn't touch that type of filler with a barge pole (someone posted a link about migration).

It might look fine for a while but then migrate (it's one of the worst areas for migration) and you could end up with festoons or malar bags or unsightly lumps. It takes ages to go too. One of my good friends had it drag one side of her face down. It took nearly two years to go.

I agree that doctors are moving away from offering it as it's one of the worst for going wrong and migration.

Another friend of mine tried the tightening cream linked. Apparently it's almost impossible to put make up over and if you move your face it cracks. She said you'd essentially get the same effect using a dab of aloe vera gel or a tightening mask.

Lower bleph surgery is the only thing if you want rid, OP.

GogAndMagog · 13/08/2024 21:47

I've heard haemorrhoid cream works to tighten under eye?

There are loads of facial yoga videos on you tube , tapping, squeezing under eye type exercises. Look at Elemental Face Yoga. Or Aysel who does an amazing jawline massage reviewed by the Honest Channel.

LancashireSquirrel · 13/08/2024 20:23

@LMBoston what other products did you try before this one if you don't mind me asking?

Homespun: ice, teaspoons, cucumber, Germoloids, hours of “lymphatic drainage” tapping

Spendy: Origins, Benefit, Inky List, No7, The Ordinary… I’ve lost count! Also an Avon product which tightened in the same way as this one, but much cheaper and made make up pill under my eyes and left white marks on my face like I’d had a particularly “interesting” (ahem) evening 😂

Bottom line is that surgery is the only way but Remescar will do for a temporary fix. Saw my ex yesterday and he commented I looked well, that was worth £37 😏

The instructions say to put it on after your make up, which I’ve had no problem with. And you only need a tiny amount — I went a bit overboard the first time and it did feel a bit crackly! In my experience no gel or mask has had this dramatic, long-last effect (still good after 7 hours hot sweaty work yesterday).

But yes, LB is my ultimate aim. Seeing what I look like without the bags has made me more determined to save up and have the surgery!

Christine1998 · 14/08/2024 06:56

I agree with posters saying check for vitamin deficiency etc. my friend suffered with this for years, eventually booking surgery, then was diagnosed with a thyroid issue, the medication cleared up her eyes, turns out this was a symptom of the thyroid issue. Not saying this to scare you, (hers were much more fluid/bags than yours)just maybe a check up with your doctor would be worth it before looking at Botox etc. good luck.

Tinymrscollings · 14/08/2024 10:43

I have these too, OP. I’m not very skilled with or interested in makeup but I watched a couple of YouTube videos about how to apply makeup to minimise the appearance of them, and I think it really works. If you put a little bit of concealer and highlighter in the right spots and put blusher up a bit higher it makes a real difference to how they appear, I was surprised. Enough sleep and plenty of water help too but life’s not always like that. I’m a bit older than you are and I’m finding that as the rest of my face ages they look a bit less prominent, but that might not be what you want to hear!

Tinymrscollings · 14/08/2024 10:52

I’m not nearly as careful as this lady is, but putting that line of concealer into the trough bit really works

@Onthedoubleline go and see a qualified aesthetics Doctor and get the options explained to you. I think despite what some here say that you will have a few options that will really help you.

Creams will not fix it!! Just a waste of money for what you want to achieve.

Where are you? There will be plenty of recommendations of Drs that Mumsnetters can offer you I am sure

Mirabai · 14/08/2024 12:40

Stay away from under eye filler, there’s an experienced cosmetic surgeon on YT who’s done a whole piece on it: “Why I stopped filling tear troughs”.

I don’t condone surgery for women, but it has to be said this US surgeon does amazing work for eye bags. Should be possible to find something similar in the U.K.

Maybe try Benadryl activastine for a week. To see if it’s an allergy and if so that med might really help to reduce inflammation. For the eye area I highly recommend Upcircle eye cream. I’ve tried so many and that one wins for me hands down. Then to disguise any puffiness I recommend IT cosmetics CC cream. If you can get it colour matched in a larger Boots store it’s amazing and very soothing.

ChickenTikkaKebabs · 14/08/2024 13:06

Tear trough filler fills the little hollow alongside the bags, The bit from the inside corner of the eye, (down the side of the nose) so they bags look as if they disappear. If the bags are very prominent it won't work so well.

You also need someone who is like a doctor or dentist with a huge amount of experience and awareness of the face and blood vessels.

It's one of the more risky places for fillers because there are a lot of arteries nearby and if they are 'filled' then you can go blind.

Going to someone really good might cost you £700+ and it needs redoing every few months.

TBH @Onthedoubleline the only real solution is surgery which is around £3K.

WinterMorn · 14/08/2024 13:21

I have a similar problem OP and was told just last week that filler would emphasise the problem. I was told to look at something called Morpheus 8 - has anyone had this?

Omlettes · 14/08/2024 17:05

Getting off any foods you have allergies to.
Eliminate wheat and dairy , milk cream cheese - butter is ok.
Cut back on salt. Drink more water.
Make sure you have enough potassium, tomatoes avocadoes beans, PARSELY, high in potassium and a diuretic.
In a week you will see improvement.

On the issue of beauty products, DO NOT use heavy cream of any kind under your eyes.
Cut very fine slices of potato and stick em over bags, the damp starch will hold them in place. They work amazingly as do damp teabags.

For the love of god dont get surgery, a mistake will be disastrous, and whats to stop them coming back if its a food sensitivity /dust allergy.

Its a sick American habit chopping up our body for 'beauty'.
Look how plastic and wierd we all look, what utter self hatred, and we have passed this self loathing to our children who think little of cutting off genitals

Thats simply not true.
its also potentially dangerous and not permanent.
Eyebags are almost always a food sensitivity and sinus issue.
Ive got rid of them via elimination of dairy, and using potato slices, the starch works amazingly, cold spoons, tapping and reducing salt.
And never ever putting heavy creams on the area.

Omlettes · 14/08/2024 17:18

it makes me so upset to see the normalisation of someone cutting your face up.
And to such poor effect and with potentially dangerous consequences.
It wont even last.

Its a profoundly sick state of affairs that we have sucked up from the US, full of self loathing and desperation for male attention, that realistically, is almost never worth it.
We can be so gullible.
Sort out your health and the rest follows. especially your lympthatic system.
Skin brushing , bouncing on a ball self massage.
Spend that 3k on the best diet.
Organic meat good fish loads of veg, pulses seeds and fresh nuts.
Drop sugar, too much added salt, processed bread, cheese etc.

Your face will follow.

In the longterm that could make it worse, heavy creamy things under eyes increases bags

SharpWriter · 14/08/2024 17:32

I had eye bag surgery 11 years ago and it was well worth it. The surgery was very straightforward and I knew that as the bags were just pockets of fat under my eyes, it wasn't something that could be fixed by creams or drinking more water, it was just genetics. I was 40 at the time but felt I just looked awful so I had to have it done. I highly recommend having a consultation but of course there will be plenty who say it's too much risk or it won't last, etc.

Mirabai · 14/08/2024 17:36

I don’t disagree about the normalisation of surgery. I wouldn’t have major surgery but eyebags can be done under local anaesthetic. Personally I think it’s less risky and longer lasting than Botox or filler long term.

They almost always arent, especially if as in OPs case, they appear after dark eye circles which are invariably allergies /sinus, causing lymphatic buildup.

Surgeons and those looking for a quick fix, would have you believe otherwise.

manywanderings · 14/08/2024 19:50

Do you have any allergies? I had bags like that when quite young and it turned out I was allergic to something. But agree with drinking more water and having a bit of detox as well. Plus get a good eye cream. Nivea Q10 do one. Lancome have really good eye cream if you can afford it.

Oh please....
changing foods will not get rid of eye bags. Eliminating dairy can lead to more damage like weak bones- too little calcium.

Surgery works very well if it's done properly.

I don't get women who condemn surgery but are happy to have their hair cut/dyed, use make up etc.

It's a personal choice.

As for it being a 'sick American habit'- really?
