Recommendations please for very light glow making sheer coverage that kight even out my skin. Texture is v fine, few wrinkles, but tone is v uneven (melasma, freckles/sun damage, age spots etc) but i hate foundatIon. Would CC cream be solution?

Keep being advertised Jones Road products by Bobbi Brown - but reviews seem mixed. I want something light, not too matte, but some coverage - is this an impossible ask?

Erborian cc cream is good. Korean technology is I think a bit ahead of ours at the moment.

Asabat · 21/07/2024 18:56

That's funny! i have it my basket but haven't been able to commit because i can't test the shade online.

Trinny London products are great. The bff cream evens out skin tone and gives a light glowy coverage.

letthem · 21/07/2024 18:58

I've just bought IT Cosmetics Your skin but better cc cream and it's absolutely gorgeous, makes your skin look flawless but also has a bit of a dewy glow. Amazing for the price

AbsolutelyFemale · 21/07/2024 19:00

I would try the Korean CC you have in your basket. I really like it. I think it's different for each person so just something you have to take a punt on. I don't wear anything else now.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 21/07/2024 19:06

I've just tried a Lancaster tinted SPF 30, gives a lovely glow and just enough coverage

Asabat · 21/07/2024 21:03

Just to check - do you usually all wear foundation? I don't wear any makeup- so this is quite the leap for me!

Nars tinted moisturiser is great, and there’s lots of different shades. Nice and sheer and glowy.

I tried eborian cc after being convinced by the mn hive mind but it was unbelievably orange on me, couldn’t use it at all.

hopsalong · 22/07/2024 07:13

I don't normally wear foundation either. At least I never did in my 20s/30s. Now also have horrible melasma and feel self-conscious.

Have tried some of the products recommended here are the Erborian and IT are both imho very heavy and make-up-like. The Erborian also made me break out. (Not hard.)

I have now gone back to concealer only but this is because the melasma improved a lot during the year I wore a shaded Isdin sunscreeen (fusionwater). It's a Spanish brand and was recommended by a dermatologist. The only problem is that the medium shade is quite dark. I was able to get this one in 'light' on Amazon and was just about OK in winter (fine in summer) on my fairish skin.

hopsalong · 22/07/2024 07:14

PS NARS tinted moisturizer looks great but alas gave me spots. I don't have any at all if I use the right products but had terrible teenage acne and it's easily triggered even in 40s!

Chickenuggetsticks · 22/07/2024 07:22

I really like dior backstage, it is foundation but it’s quite pigmented and quite runny, you only need a few drops over a well moisturised face to get ok coverage.

Chickenuggetsticks · 22/07/2024 07:23

I found IT cosmetics one to be really gloopy and sticky, hated it. Nars is on my list to try but finding the correct shade is a problem for me.

Girlintheframe · 22/07/2024 07:31

IT CC cream is nice but I found it quite thick and mask like. Best I've found is bare minerals complexion rescue. Its light and has a make up no make up vibe

TheOGCCL · 22/07/2024 08:04

I’d be focusing on fixing your skin, Dermatica or Skin and Me would sort out those issues. I think all cream based formulas are noticeable on the skin (touch wise not look wise). The lighter the formula gets the less it helps. I’d probably pick the Bare Minerals one out of all suggested so far.

Asabat · 22/07/2024 08:16

It's really tricky- I know I will hate all the ones people describe as heavy or mask like also, they will likely give me spots.

@TheOGCCL i have tried Dermatica, but found the formula recommended really drying and it's so expensive to persist.

Has anyone tried the Jones Road products ?

I tried the Trinny product but it settled immediately into all my (not many) wrinkles and aged me.

gracielooloo · 22/07/2024 09:32

I was using the IT Cosmetics one but found it too heavy, currently using Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser.
You can often get samples on EBay, that’s what I did as we live rurally with nowhere to try any of these.

tealandteal · 22/07/2024 09:46

I really like the Dr Jart BB cream. It’s spf50 and sheer. I have tried lots of foundations/bb creams recently as my skin has become so sensitive after having my second child it breaks out in spots or rashes.

Also I recommend finding skincare that’s works for you, for me I found Nip + Fab has calmed my skin down and given it the best look it has had in years.

friendlyflicka · 22/07/2024 09:58

I found Erborian too heavy and too orange. I really like byTerry cc serum. It is light but very radiant and perfectly pigmented. After using Nars and Laura Mercier - which I liked - I have found this one and stuck with it.

Vicliz24 · 22/07/2024 10:10

I use the IT Cosmetics CC cream . The trick is to use the tiniest amount. A tube lasts me almost a year because I'm talking a lentil sized blob on each side of my face . Lovely light glowy finish is used this way . SPF 50 too

WeRateSquirrels · 22/07/2024 10:18

I found IT Cosmetics incredibly heavy and Erborian too orange. The hunt continues.

I use this - I have roseacea and it disguises red flushes without completely masking my actual skin.

How have you been applying them? I used to use fingers, then a sponge. Now I use a foundation brush and get a much lighter coverage that i can build up if i wish.

hopsalong · 22/07/2024 19:11

@Soontobe60

I've only ever used my fingers. The tendency of my skin to break out makes me avoid all brushes, sponges etc. like the plague.

I'm sure these are all much lighter than foundation but I have never worn foundation, only moisturizer/ sunscreen and concealer until recently.

Babychewtoy · 22/07/2024 19:59

Another vote for bare minerals complexion rescue if you want something very light.
