True, I think Queen Silvia of Sweden has suffered from King CG’s infidelities, and Prince Henrik gave Daisy some headaches too. But as far as I know, there’s never been a whiff of scandal about King Harald - he’s been devoted to Queen Sonja for over 60 years and said that if he couldn’t marry her then he’d remain single. And that would’ve brought an end to the Norwegian monarchy.

Firstly, because it all relates to commissions he would have got from Arab and Gulf governments but it has not been proved. It relates to PR / mediation for Spanish engineering companies and the high speed train contracts in the area. In any case, the commissions will have been earned lawfully, the problem would be that he was not taxed for them. The commissions would have been paid by the Arab/ Gulf governments, not by Spanish companies.
Secondly, because the crime, if any, is unprosecutable due to the statute of limitations.

The main reason JC is not in Spain at the moment is because the current government does not want him there. It has been said he was offered a return with conditions but does not accept them for “political” reasons (it’s all complicated and relates to the very strange current politics dynamic with a minority government supported by all kind of, let’s say, interesting characters). Do not want to enter into the matter.

I don’t actually know how the royal family are regarded in Spain now. I think Letizia went through a period of unpopularity - I remember a Spanish friend being very critical of her because she was “just a news reader” who’d been married before and Felipe could’ve chosen from any number of more suitable women. But that just sounds like snobbery/sour grapes to me!

Yes, this is correct. The BIL that bought the ring (or helped Felipe buy it) was Cristina's husband. They are now divorced after he spent five years in prison. He's now with a new partner.

Despite being married forever, I sold my wedding&engagement ring, to put towards our dream house a long time ago. Years later I treated myself to a dress ring and it is very flashy and gorgeous!

We couldn't afford an engagement ring, we were on a tight budget! I got a lovely one later on. 😊
