That's a very pretty colour on Sophie. I think Amalia has one of those faces/styles that are way better once you leave the teen years. She looks great in that picture with Felipe and there was a picture of her in an evening dress on the previous thread that was gorgeous.

I’ve never seen that tiara before. Its very different.

There's something I quite like about the Poppies Tiara. Not to criticise Daisy but I imagine it would look stunning worn by Mary with dark, much thicker hair.

Not sure about Sophie's dress last night - more than a hint of Royal palace curtains!?

I think the dress is a bit much with that pattern, although the style is nice. Sophie looks lovely, tanned and relaxed.

Too caftanesque for my liking and I don’t think the colour is great. I’m sure it was a fun outing though.

I like whatever that gentleman is wearing (behind Sophie).

I suspect that Sophie's dress is one of those that look better in person and with movement. I quite like it even in the photo.

I think that style of dress would have been stunning on Sophie had it been a plain pastel colour like pink, blue or yellow. I also think she'd have looked fab in a brighter pink.
Her hair and makeup look lovely.

Not sure, @Maireas - the paper said Eugenie’s sons but there’s only one on the pic so the other might have been cropped off. I’m guessing it’s the youngest so that would be Ernest. Oldest is Augustus, isn’t he?

I have a fantastic biography of Queen Geraldine of Albania. She had an absolutely mad life.

Highlights include that Hitler gave her and King Zog a red Mercedes as a wedding present, and that the morning after their wedding, she was upset because she thought that her new maid must have stolen her nightdress, until Zog admitted he had purloined it and sent it to the Prime Minister to prove she was a virgin.

Their son, Leka, was born in the Ritz in London after they were exiled. There was a sort of litter tray of Albanian soil under the bed so that he could be said to be born on Albanian territory
