I have some keen walking sandals that are amazing buy do look like walking sandals
I've been on the look out for comfort but nicer looking. I do struggle with footwear. I had doc sandals but they are not supportive enough now

Birkenstock Mayari, I've walked miles in mine! Wear them all the time. So comfy

wishIwasonholiday10 · 19/07/2024 12:30

I also like the Saltwaters with the thicker sole. They are much more comfy for me than the original ones and also more comfy than my Birkenstocks for longer walks. My Tevas (with proper walking shoes type sole rather than the original Tevas) are even better but much uglier.

WinterNightStars · 19/07/2024 12:33

Love my Skechers

bingobanjo · 19/07/2024 13:03

I just got Tevas recently and they’re amazing. I have the Hurricane XLT2 Ampsole.

They feel incredibly secure, good on any terrain, super comfortable for walking around and I think they look good too!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 19/07/2024 13:38

Honestly I have been researching this for years. YEARS.

I have found lots of decent enough pairs (mostly already mentioned on this thread). But all of them either rub if you walk too far, or make you walk like a duck, or look frumpy, or one of them makes a farting noise with each step. I am losing hope that my dream of perfect sandals will ever come true Sad.

learieonthewildmoor · 19/07/2024 15:20

Ecco Simpil are really comfortable and good for walking.

LoisLanyard · 19/07/2024 15:43

Another recommendation for saltwater sandals. I’ve walked miles and miles in hot weather with these and found them very comfortable. Mine are nearly 5 years old and still in great condition.

ilovesushi · 19/07/2024 16:51

Love the look of those Gracie sandals. I had fitflop sandals years ago when I was pregnant. They were comfy but I found them very heavy.

parkrun500club · 19/07/2024 17:33

I've walked miles in Hotter Easy Sandals.

CarlaH · 19/07/2024 17:35

How are the Gracie for plantar fasciitis please?

CumbersomeRobes · 19/07/2024 17:36

I love my Saltwater Boardwalks. Could not get on with the thin soled ones but the Boardwalks are amazing. I also like that both straps are adjustable which is great for those fat of foot - lijj oh e me!

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 19/07/2024 17:42

Hotter Tourist. Not chic, but they don't look like they were built for yomping either. Extremely comfortable and good with dresses, shorts, trousers.

I've been wearing these this summer too. They're almost as comfy as the Hotters, and they're much more modern-looking.ClarksKassanda

I have some Blowfish Malibu Mirenda sandals that are incredibly comfortable and look really nice on - mine are a dull gold and I think I will get a brown pair next year.

Funnily enough two pairs of leather Plakton Birk-a-likes from TK Maxx have been extremely comfortable - more than my actual Birkies which are fine but not my sandal of choice for thousands of steps. Plus they were way cheaper than the real thing. One pair has lasted for over 6 years.

Absolutely nothing beats my Crocs flip flops though. Those things are like walking on air and last forever. The ones on my feet right now are 13 years old. They are the Crocband flip I think. I'm going to buy some Gettaway flips next.

I bought some Fitflop Gracie sandals in a 6 and they are too narrow. I paid £100 for these and I can't get the top bar over my feet.

I think I will stick them on eBay for half price.

Before you do that, why don’t you try using a shoe stretcher on them? I have these sandals and found them to be on the narrow side. I have a bunion on my right foot but I used a shoe stretcher on it and it fits fine now. You can get them on Amazon. I paid £16 for mine.

I love lotus sandals never hurt me

Simple style and Very comfortable

Lavendersquare · 19/07/2024 21:08

I wholeheartedly recommend Vionic sandals they are fantastic. They are orthotic footwear so great arch support with a supportive footbed, and unlike some 'comfy' grands come in loads of styles that cover most occasions and ages.

They aren't cheap but you can often pick them up half price in Next clearance online or in Tkmaxx, Vinted is also a good source.

They come in wide or regular fitting and I'd say that even regular is a bit on the wide side.

I walked miles in Florida in the theme parks earlier this year (25k steps most days) and didn't suffer with aching feet and as someone who suffered with plantar fasciitis and painful feet for years they have been a revelation.

Agree, fitflops are so comfy, can walk miles- I to have rubbish feet. They are also on their 3rd year and worn lots so get your moneys worth out of them.

I agree. They're fantastic.

IdaPrentice · 19/07/2024 21:42

I have Karrimor Salina sandals. They have the comfort of walking sandals but they're not so ugly, the straps cross over at the front, the material is like suede, and they have a slight heel, which I find better than completely flat (e.g. Birkenstocks).
Here from Sports Direct (also only £30!)

Capricornandproud · 19/07/2024 21:48

Croc sandals! Take a few days walking to break in but my god, unbelievably comfy. I have terrible feet (think operation on them as so deformed, bunions removed, flat feet, wide feet… just totally bolloxed) and I can do 15k steps a day in these. These getaways are lot sturdier in real and really trendy looking for non-Croc lovers.

jay55 · 19/07/2024 21:55

I got these plain cream Tevas after seeing them on here

https://www.marksandspencer.com/madera-leather-flat-slingback-sandals/p/clp22589015?intid=mobileappppdpshare

They were brilliant on holiday, the sole is super cushioned and they didn't look tooo like walking sandals when at nice lunches.

CountessWindyBottom · 19/07/2024 22:18

I love sandals and will only buy Gabor or FitFlops as they suit my feet and are great for long walks.
