Skirt is LK Bennett and it has hung in my wardrobe for some inexplicable reason. It is wool and silk, full skirt with pockets, fairly vibrant fuchsia.

Have a 'do' in a fairly upmarket pub this weekend. What should I wear with skirt Something not too fussy and simple I think. I brought the silk top from Jigsaw ( bargain with extra 15%off)

It is good silk but is the black a bit harsh with the skirt? I don't really suit black either... any ideas/ opinions welcome...
Otherwise I have a forest green long tulle net skirt ( not worn either! )
Excuse poor photos!

Love the skirt OP. I would never have thought that orange would work but that fitted orange top works really well. Great outfit 👌

I see it has already been mentioned but a white more fitted top.

If you go for orange there are loads about www.boohoo.com/buy/orange-tops-for-women

Orange shirt looks fantastic. T shirt looks like you ought to be wearing jeans but forgot and suddenly put a lovely skirt on….

CrotchetyQuaver · 12/07/2024 07:55

I would try that with a white shirt/blouse. I think you need the V shape neck a buttoned shirt would provide; the round neck (in your photo at any rate) doesn't seem to look quite right with it.

It's a very pretty skirt by the way

The orange blouse looks best. The orange t-shirt is second but looks too smooth.
The white doesn't add anything. I would have thought it would let the skirt shine but it doesn't.

None of the above.. the orange is too much (colour wise) but too informal for dinner and detracts from the gorgeous skirt. The white t shirt isn't enough.

Agree with the many posts saying boxy top, or maybe a buttoned up fine cashmere cardigan with a camisole underneath if it's too warm.

A pub is a pub right?

Jeans and tee
Dress up
Your choice surely

The more I look at I agree. The orange is too much with fuschia. As another pp said the orange t- shirt looks as if OP had intended to wear jeans but found a skirt instead, the white does nothing.

White top or white button-down shirt! Collar undone, sleeves rolled. With kitten heel, chefs kiss!

Yes!!

Wow S and B has got nasty these days. OP is establishing context.

It seems to me there are lot of nasty comments on all threads nowadays, not just just S&B.

Trolls and keyboard warriors, they think they're'badass' but really just downright nasty...
