Yes, I'm a fan, but it's quite high maintenance for me!

Does it leave your hair nice and soft not all crispy and hard like lots of other products?

I've heard a few people say that it made their hair like straw and when they reached out to the company for guidance on social media then they blocked them. One of those companies who only want to hear glowing reviews.

Monkeybutt1 · 06/07/2024 07:48

Is this the hair wavers? If so I had one and it destroyed my hair. I used heat protector and often straighten and curl my hair with no issue but these absolutely destroyed my hair and the waves didn't last either

WaitingForMojo · 06/07/2024 07:50

I’m very tempted but looking at the ingredients list they contain oils that seem heavy for wavy hair. Interested if anyone loves it.

WaitingForMojo · 06/07/2024 07:51

If products are leaving your hair crispy, are you scrunching out the crunch?

MidLifeWoman · 06/07/2024 07:53

I tried it. It was ok and brought out my waves, but it is such a faff! I have gone back to my straight hair.

BishyBarnyBee · 06/07/2024 07:58

I've used Only Curls for a while and tried Merwave recently. So far, am not wild about Merwave.

Firstly, 2 products (gel and conditioner) are very thick and gloopy, and don't come out of the bottle easily. The bottles are thick rigid plastic which doesn't help as you can't squeeze them.

So far, I've had better results with Only Curls. I don't really use shampoo, I "wash" in conditioner. Scrunch through OC Hydrating Curl Crème while wet, "plop" with a towel, then use gel or mousse. The Curl Crème seems to be the product that really makes a difference. I can get away with cheaper conditioner, mousse or gel.

Merwaves has more stages to it (5 products) and I think you need to experiment a bit to get the best results. I haven't really had head space to watch all the videos and probably haven't got the best out of it yet.

If you want to make your hair a project and feel like a splurge, it's probably worth a try but there is no guarantee it will work for you.

BishyBarnyBee · 06/07/2024 08:02

The videos are here. I didn't watch them before I impulse purchased (on a day when I felt I needed a bit of TLC!). Worth a look to get a sense of how they work and whether you're likely to be arsed to do it properly.

I have. It was a real faff and left my hair a bit crunchy.
My waves were nice for one day but looked rubbish the next. The only product I rated was the mousse.

Ifthisiswheretheworldisheadingcountmeout · 06/07/2024 08:07

I really like the only curls range however I have no idea how to maintain the results. On day one my waves are exactly how I'd like them to be, but it's a one day wonder. I only wash my hair once or twice a week so it's a lot of time and expense to go through to have good hair for a single day. Think once this batch is done I'll revert to my old wash routine.

Wisterialily · 06/07/2024 08:10

I have wavy hair just bought it and I love it! The waves were soft and defined and lasted. So happy I bought it. Last year tried only curls and it was horrible, hair became heavy, sticky and oily.

p0pple · 06/07/2024 08:10

Not directed exclusively at Merwave, but does anyone else get the sense that if they used a ton of products and spend half their life scrunching, their hair would be "wavy"? If hair isn't wavy anyway without doing much, maybe it's just not that wavy? Feels like a con to me.

No. Products and scrunching would leave straight hair straight otherwise nobody would need heat tools!

Similars · 06/07/2024 08:20

Not impressed. Didn’t feel like they were any better than any of the products you can buy in Superdrug etc. A complete faff to use with so so results. My hair IS naturally wavy but dries without any definition and goes fluffy so I was hoping this would be the solution but it wasn’t. As soon as I scrunched out the crunch it went fluffy again. It takes me a fraction of the time to dry and straighten my hair and I know it will look good whereas following this routine I quite often had to start again once my hair dried as I looked like

They’re not meant to ‘make’ your hair wavy. They’re meant to help define your natural curls and waves. Curly or wavy hair is prone to fizziness, fluffiness etc and lots of products tend to weigh it down or make it look wet.

If you don’t already have a natural curl or wave, they’re not for you.

OneFrenchEgg · 06/07/2024 08:26

No but I'm glad to read this thread as my hair is awful and I've spent ££££ on products. This was on my list but I'll give it a swerve. Using only curls for the last year but tried curlsmith on holiday and it's really good.

HollyGolightly4 · 06/07/2024 08:39

It's left my hair really soft. I'm not quite a pro at scrunching out the crunch, but I got there in the end.

CountdownCat · 06/07/2024 08:49

It completely ruined my hair, left it dry and brittle and snapping easily.

They also left me high and dry as they wouldn't publish my posts on their Facebook group desperately asking for help and advice as to what I was doing wrong. They only seem to allow positive posts on where people love their products.

I also commented on someone else's post asking for advice (as I couldn't get my own published!) and the admins deleted my comment.

So it's an expensive risk if the products don't work for you, and don't expect any help in that case! Really regret spending the money on them now.

This is the same as me. If I leave it dry naturally, it looks lovely for a day. When I blow dry it straight I get 3-4 days out of it.

spikeandbuffy · 06/07/2024 11:58

Mine goes really fluffy, I have pics with and without product and it's taken a while to work out what works
Not tried merwave but I've used everything else from only curls to curlsmith to treluxe! I have fine hair that loves protein

lovelysunshine22 · 06/07/2024 15:36

Thank you for all the replies. I think i will give it a miss, the lady in the ads always looks like she has hard crispy hair!

I get similar results to what they claim, using 2 pantene products from superdrug - an oil (tiny amount) and some curl creme stuff that comes in a white pump dispenser. Cost me about £12.

BoldAmberDuck · 20/10/2024 22:29

I used it, cost £52 and I’ve given it away! Hair was really crunchy and itched like mad☹️
