Clearly crocs look daft on adults, but are they ok for quite small kids?

Your thoughts please.

Ds is desperate for them (he is 4)

I am toying with buying them as his main summer shoes (then wellies and some cheap lace ups for running about in)

But I am in two minds as to whether they just look completely daft, even on kids.

My boys are 6 and 3 and would like crocs for the summer.

TBH they will be cheaper than ordinary sandals and I think are quite cute on children but I wouldnt be seen dead in them myself!!

Which colour does he want?

maidamess · 10/04/2008 15:16

Excuse me, I've just taken my crocs off!

You can get crocs on the cheap from Primark, about £2 a pair. And mark my words, you'll be in them before you can say jack Robinson!

am wearing mine
and you can put them in the washing machine.

farrowandball · 10/04/2008 15:18

they are brilliant for kids and washable and solid and their feet get aired and solid and bright and i think much nicer than gross patterned pumps or whatever. they are good value too.

but they look mental on adults. yes siree.

popsycal · 10/04/2008 15:19

mine love them
boys aged 5 and 3 - ds2 especially loves his

collision · 10/04/2008 15:19

Something worse than crocs are fake crocs!

I saw a lovely looking lady today in Windsor. Quite smart looking in her 50's wearing a beige trouser suit and spotty scarf with a matching brown bag and...
...........bright green crocs!!

Why?Why?Why? I nearly pulled her aside to ask her.....!!

No1ErmaBombeckfan · 10/04/2008 15:19

My 3 yo has 2 pairs - bright pink and purple pair - they go with everything in her wardrobe and she can put on/take off at will...

They're fab for kids, DD almost 4 lived in hers last summer, won't be wasting £25 on proper sandals + £15 on doodles etc etc this year.

You can even bleach them

And I've been known to wear some myself in the garden/beach etc too. But I'm over 40 and don't care what people say anymore

TigerFeet · 10/04/2008 15:21

DD has a pair of shocking pink ones

They are comfy and durable and can be hosed down

SHe looks cute in them too

She loves that she can put those pop-in button things on them

They are fab for kids imho

stillstanding · 10/04/2008 15:21

Oh I think very cute on kids. Go for it, Filly!

2point4kids · 10/04/2008 15:21

They look ridiculous on adults, but look impossibly cute on my 2yr old DS
He had a bright blue pair last summer and has a red pair for this summer!

Def not the fake ones though!

MrsWeasley · 10/04/2008 15:23

my kids used to wear those jelly shoes in the summer, you could wear them anywhere they wash and dry in a heartbeat. I assume Crocs are just the next stage up from Jellies, No? the only drawback is they get spotty feet from the sun or dirt

No1ErmaBombeckfan · 10/04/2008 15:23

My 95 yo gran has a pr - what with her arthritis and all the other difficulties it is the only pr of shoes she can wear with any ease...

Whats wrong with fake crocs? Blimey, you'd rather pay £25 for something that looks exactly the same as a pair of £3 ones...looney!!

Slouchy · 10/04/2008 18:01

Have bought dds a pair of proudly fake ones each in lurid green. they love em.

Over my dead body will I ever wear a pair myself.

SniffyHock · 10/04/2008 18:04

Great for the beach - we have a rocky beach nearby and it's hard on little tootsies so crocs are fab.

I wouldn't be seen dead in them (but then I used to think that about Ugg boots )

lulumama · 10/04/2008 18:04

DD had regular crocs last summer, and lelli kellys, string me up! and in the winter had mammoth crocs!

i will buy her another pair of crocs this summer as they are brilliant, and very cute on small feet, she could go in the sea with them, in and out of the paddling pool and garden, and then at the end of the day , tehy can go in the bath for a scrub!

maidamess · 10/04/2008 18:07

I wear mine for pootling in and out of the house, gardening, etc.

Much more practical than slippers. I wouldn't be without them! I'm in the middle of messy building work and they are great. And fake, and only $5 from Sydney! #

Mind you, my brother wears a red pair, his wife a yellow pair and their two children a green pair, all at the same time. They look like misfits from some strange childrens Tv programme

princessmel · 10/04/2008 18:09

My ds and dd love theirs.

ds had black ones and dd purple last summer.

He now has red ones and dd has the pale pink mary jane style.

They have loads of jibbitz in the holes too.

They LOVE them.
So practical, comfy, easy to put on by themselves , washable etc.

I have some mammoth ones for slippers.

Buy them.

foofi · 10/04/2008 18:10

Yes, very useful for kids especially for gardening, swimming, anything messy.

Fullmoonfiend · 10/04/2008 18:21

fab footwear for kids at festivals...specially when they turn into muddy hell.

amazonianwoman · 10/04/2008 21:06

Why are they so hideous on adults?

They're no worse than Ugg "I look like I'm popping out in the rain in my slippers" boots

And much cheaper
