Impossible dress?

I am very short (5.1"), fairly petite (size 8 top, size 10 bottoms), with a short torso. I am 53 years old. I probably look younger.

I find that most dresses drown me and I am struggling to find a suitable dress for the summer. I am looking for something that's fitted but not figure hugging, definitely not floaty though, and that it has sleeves (short sleeves okay, but not cap) that are not wide, floaty, or puffy.

The material should be cotton or a linen blend, might consider good quality viscose.

I have really unbelievably white legs so lenghtwise I am thinking probably midi?

It should not be patterned, definitely not flowers, and the colour should be black, navy or a dark green. Budget £100 or less.

I feel I am looking for an impossible but perhaps someone out there has some suggestions I haven't considered. Thanks!

@mixedpeel its definitely a midi not a maxi on me (the Petite one), in fact I preferred the overall longer length of the non-Petite one but it was too long in the torso. I’m 5’ 2.

Uniqlo have some shirt dresses with short sleeves. I don’t they come with a belt but it could be easily belted.

Thank you everyone. I've enjoyed looking at all the suggestions.

I love the shape of the Starlight Petite. I have never worn a light blue like that but would consider it if they had my size. The plum colour is stunning!!

I like the Uniqlo ones (Comptoir des cottoniers) potentially with a belt.

I still love the Reiss one....

Why not try Google lens lots of similar dresses to the Reiss one fraction of the price 😊

Surely op is going to love this one? If not there’s no hope.

I wasnt linking to the Magenta one but there are loads of colours!

CowgirlGunburger · 30/06/2024 09:31

The Reiss one is absolutely gorgeous! If you can possibly stretch the budget (and someone said above there's 10% off if you're a new customer) then I say go for it, it's very versatile so you'll get loads of wear out of it and feel great.

I do like it. But it's not petite, so chances are it will swamp me, not just in lenghth which can be solvable, but the back will probably gather over my waist, and the front might just be a little too low and revealing.

Thanks @2catswantmore. The Ro&Zo is a bit house of the prairie, not keen on the sleeves. The DP ones are not an option they're made of polyester.

Thanks @OneFingerOneThumbKeepMoving. Again, polyester, and the cap sleeves will make my torso look wider. The shade of green won't suit be one bit.
