Hi I'm totally fed up of buying make up to conceal my dark circles that doesn't and sits in my lines , at every make up counter they tell me their products work but they don't seem to and I've spent a fortune . So what works for you ? I'm at a loss but not giving up yet

I feel your pain. After purchasing yet another tube filled with nothing but shattered dreams, I had to vent my spleen on the Estee Lauder website review section (see image).

I actually put my name on the review as Jaded Consumer. And they left out my reply to their question 'best use for this product' to which I replied 'grouting tiles'.

It's not just concealer that fails to deliver. All under-eye -targeting gunge is just there to exploit our shametenance. Primers to fill lines, boost radiance, correct colours - they are all the very quintessence of balls.

That's not helped much, has it? Soz.

I'm glad to hear it as I won't buy it . I'm fed up of promises too and spending a lot of money and it doesn't work

I've never had makeup that works. But I have had dark circles reduce taking vitamins, and I never knew I needed them

boredm · 24/06/2024 21:44

I think copper peptides and retin A have some effect too

minipie · 24/06/2024 21:47

After 30 years of acne I’ve tried a lot of concealers

Best all round concealer I’ve found is NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, highly pigmented but blendable and big colour range.

A special mention for MAC Pro Longwear Concealer for undereye use only - it doesn’t blend well enough for use on spots but it is highly pigmented and doesn’t budge so is good for under eye.

I do have quite oily skin and not too many fine lines (I’m more saggy than lined…) so my recommendations are with that caveat

ISeriouslyDoubtIt · 24/06/2024 21:47

I don't know what the answer is. I'm 60 and like others have tried everything. I've even seen recommendations on this forum and have bought them full of hope, but after an hour they have gone into my lines yet again and I'm left with pale spidery lines round my eyes.
I decided a few months ago to say sod it and face the world with my under-eye circles. It's actually fine. I'd rather have the circles showing and the skin looking quite smooth than attempt to cover them and have a cakey, crepey, pale lined under-eye area which seems to emphasise the circles even more.

TeenLifeMum · 24/06/2024 21:47

I was wondering about the Trinny miracle blur but then I looked at before and after photos on the website and I cannot see any difference.

minipie · 24/06/2024 21:50

Splcam have to say Estee Lauder is my least favourite concealer out of the ones I’ve tried

OMGitsnotgood · 24/06/2024 21:51

Another one feeling your pain so watching with interest.

Will try the vitamins!

I read once that red lipstick used under concealer is supposed to work but I don't use red lipstick so haven't tried it, I wasn't going to buy one just to try it out. Although I am wondering now if someone on a makeup counter would try be prepared to give it a go?!

DietCokeandHulaHoops · 24/06/2024 21:52

I’ve tried everything (and I’m a bit younger) and have come to the conclusion that it’s an eye lift I need (not helpful I know).

Ok I have make up artists in the family and this is what helps for me:

Mega hydration - drink water and apply hyaluronic acid serum to your eye area as often as possible. Slug it at night. So put the hyaluronic acid or Tranexamic serum on and an occlusive like Cicaplast Baume over the top. Sliky but does plump a little.

I've had limited success with Tranexamic acid serum (from Superdrug)and beautifye mesotherapy (ouch).

Also try using setting spray - I use urban decay to blend it in. It does help. I apply my concealer and then spray some setting spray onto my blending brush or sponge tip and blend well. It kind of makes it a bit stretchy so it doesn't settle.
I use Mac in the little pot.

Worth a try.

goingdownfighting · 24/06/2024 22:08

Oh yeah Botox is amazing and also just don't smile or laugh.

SutekhsEars · 24/06/2024 22:12

I use Rose Inc colour corrector then I sometimes put Bobbi Brown concealer over it. Tbh, the Rose Inc colour corrector is usually enough. Put 3 small dots then blend it with a sponge.

marmiteloversunite · 24/06/2024 22:39

I like the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Vanish. It's not perfect but the best I've found so far.

AlbertCampion · 24/06/2024 23:02

I've tried so many and my favourite by far is Collection's concealer. Cheap as chips at around £4 and gives good coverage without clumping in wrinkles too much. Obvs not perfect but loads better than my Touche Eclat and a fraction of the price.

suki1964 · 24/06/2024 23:04

59 and well weathered shall we say :)

I dont do cake me in cosmetics and make me look magazine perfection, I have wrinkles, creases, pigmentation, under eye shadows and hooded lids - and for me thats ok, cos thats me
So I do wear makeup that eases it , but Im still seen

Im settled with Laura Geller right now. I use two foundations, the double take and the balance and brighten. I wear the double take as the base on "problem areas" - the dark circles, the rose red cheeks and chin and around the forehead, and then go all over with the balance and brighten

Neither settle in lines on me.

However there are a lot of bad reviews saying you dont get coverage, but its not full coverage foundation, my skin is still there

I "could" try harder and erase all imperfections but I am imperfect and as long as I look bright and fresh, its enough

cleo333 · 25/06/2024 19:18

These replies are so interesting . Are there any make up artists on here who can recommend I wonder ?

I'm using L'Oréal true match parfait concealer (oops, I think that's what it's called!) It's been my fav for a few months it's not perfect but gives a lovely glow and covers my dark circles. It lasts about 6/8 hours. The colour is honey. I've been using banana setting powder for awhile now too.. €4 in Primark. I find it brilliant

Yes completely agree with you.. the make up I wear isn't full coverage because I don't want to hide my face. It gives me a glow and I look less tired

Could you post a link to this product?

BrandNewBicep · 27/06/2024 13:45

I also use the Collection one. Not perfect, but fairly reasonable.

Sparkletastic · 27/06/2024 15:20

The only one I've got that works is the Erborian under eye concealer.

EvelynBeatrice · 27/06/2024 19:04

I'm of your vintage. I've tried many expensive concealers and the best one I've found is a cheapie comparatively. Collection Lasting Perfection Stretch Concealer - which annoyingly I now can only find online. I apply it to very well moisturised under eye area in triangle with brush then follow with foundation.

There's also a la Roche posay under eye cream for dark circles which I found somewhere and have never seen again that did seem to reduce them.

EvelynBeatrice · 27/06/2024 19:06

Unfortunately all b the boots and Superdrug's I've tried in person do t stock the little round pots of Collection concealer anymore -!only the tube ones which I've found useless texture wise.
