Is this ridiculous for my 54th birthday?

It's a "surprise" do. A dozen or so people who think I don't know, but I put my foot down with my friend! Restaurant that has dancing after the meal.

I quite like it in the mirror, but in the photo look somehow both lumpy and scrawny?

Other than this it with be the old cliche nice top and jeans...and it is a very nice top and very good jeans that fit well and I feel comfortable in....

I wore the blue one, its soft and floaty, if not sexy. It's about 10 years old and and I can send the other one back. After the first Margarita I didn't care anyway 🤣

Glad you had a good surprise party. It occurred to me that I have a couple of dresses similar to the first one - but I think they work better. Purely for interest you might take a look at

who make this sort of long knitted dress brilliantly. (Probably more of the knitted variety in Winter, and the photos don’t do them justice..) They’re not the cheapest but not extortionate either. I’m a bit (fair bit!) older than you and wore one of their long knitted cotton and silk sleeveless dresses to a festival last year - and felt fabulous.
