Is this ridiculous for my 54th birthday?

It's a "surprise" do. A dozen or so people who think I don't know, but I put my foot down with my friend! Restaurant that has dancing after the meal.

I quite like it in the mirror, but in the photo look somehow both lumpy and scrawny?

Other than this it with be the old cliche nice top and jeans...and it is a very nice top and very good jeans that fit well and I feel comfortable in....

There's this one. It more comfortable and much lighter. Silk, probably even more beachy, but I think casual is OK for tonight. I've never worn it with a belt before. It's not a good photo!

My grown up son prefers the red one, I probably feel better in this...

For some reason your enormous watch unbalances the look - but that’s probably just in the photo.

I don't like the second one at all...too baggy and frumpy and does nothing at all for your enviably fabulous figure! First dress is great and you look really lovely. Some pretty jewellery and a light jacket and you're all set. Happy birthday 🥂

The second one looks lovely, the colour is much nicer and the neckline suits you more than the first one.

Yu have a great body but those types of dresses do nobody any favours unless you are a 14 year old colt.
I wore a similar one when I was 8 stone aged 25 and very thin and it showed up lumps I didn't know I had. The blue one looks really nice.

Second one is more elegant and flattering. Also looks more comfortable which always leads to a better night out.

The material of the dress seems a bit odd and warm for this time of year. I don’t particularly like the dress style but that’s just my opinion. But I don’t think it looks bad on you and if you feel good in it and comfy then that’s the main thing.

I think it looks great. I've got skinny arms, nothing wrong with that! Loads of people hate their bingo wings, lol.
If you're worried about sillouette then just wear a spanks/skims kind of thingy. Not that you need to.
