What does everyone wear
Normally a hoodie and leggings but I'm always red hot and flustered
What does everyone wear ?
It's gonna be around 30/32 degrees when we land at 1pm and I also want to look stylish and put together

I even love a loose / flowy jumpsuit to be fair… and you could also dress it up with heels while on holiday. I’d wear it with sandals or slides for the flight, and pack a big pair of sunglasses when you arrive and I think that would look glam whilst also being comfy.

I’ve bought this for when I go to Croatia in August:

Mind you isn't a jumpsuit a nightmare in the aircraft toilet?

Baxdream · 22/06/2024 07:56

Depends how long the flight is. Short haul I'd wear shorts.
We're going to Dubai so I'm wearing a vest and joggers (nice ones!) and changing into shorts on the plane as we arrive in 40 odd degrees

Drivingmissmarigold · 22/06/2024 08:07

I always pack flipflops and shorts in my bag and change at the airport whilst waiting on baggage.

itsasmallworldafteralll · 22/06/2024 08:09

I wear a black maxi skirt with thin thermal leggings underneath and a T-shirt with a jumper. Before we land I take off the leggings and the jumper.

Usually loose light cotton palazzo style pants, (normally patterned in case I spill a drink or something! ) with a T shirt and usually a small light denim jacket. This year I've bought a cropped linen bomber jacket which I'll wear instead.

As mentioned by a pp I have a soft throw/pashmina type thing for extra warmth on the cold side and on the plane. Sometimes I do pack a pair of shorts into my hand luggage and put them on before landing. Depends on how white my legs are the destination and landing time.

The linen bomber jacket sounds exactly what I'm after, can you let me know where it's from please?

Haha, that’s true!
though, I never go on the aircraft if I can help it (short haul of course) I’d go before I board and after… appreciate it’s not the most practical of outfits 🤭
I’d go flowy trousers! Cropped ones are quite nice.

Joggers are nice - you can get some lovely ones these days and “dress them up”

Layers as planes are freezing. Kids put shorts in bag and change.

Zonder · 22/06/2024 08:21

Definitely layers. Always chilly on a plane. Not black though.

Nice joggers, vest top, fleece - I’ve worn this sort of outfit many times for travelling to a hot country and it works just fine. We head off on holiday next week and I’m debating whether to wear sandals to travel (one less thing in my case if they’re on my feet) or light trainers, as it can be so chilly on planes

@NeedWineNow yes it's Greece we are going too
We are going to Rhodes

We are going to Rhodes in August- hopefully the weather will be better in London by then and I can wear similar clothing!
If I was going now, I would wear a maxi summer dress with a cardigan, my jewellery and big sunglasses (in an attempt to look glam) with trainers.
They usually have a blanket on the plane if you get cold but a maxi dress will keep your legs covered.

FrenchandSaunders · 22/06/2024 08:24

We left uk the other week at 10 degrees and arrived in Turkey to 40! I had shorts in my hand luggage and changed in the loos. Wore a vest top under hoodie on plane.

Dubai is one place you know you can always be in air-conditioned spaces.

Houseofdragonsisback · 22/06/2024 08:25

I get cold on planes, even short trips. I wear layers so would wear some kind of loose trouser or jean with a T-shirt/vest and a cotton sweater with a big wrap scarf to use as a blanket. I wear slide sandals as you don’t have to fuss with buckles and put thick socks on on the plane.

Nothing wrong with taking pride in your appearance. I also like looking stylish and put together, and I think you can do this while being comfy at the airport too!

wateraddict · 22/06/2024 08:26

I freeze on planes. Leggings, tshirt jumper trainers. Fluffy socks and a pair of shorts in my bag. Usually change into the shorts just before landing or in the loo at baggage claim. No overheating and stay cosy when needed! Easy. Never mind looking glam for me, comfort all the way

Just wondering why someone would particularly want this at an airport. It reminded me of a friend who always bought a flight outfit for her holiday so she looked good. What's wrong with normal outfits?

Houseofdragonsisback · 22/06/2024 09:00

What's wrong with normal outfits?

Are there any abnormal outfits on this thread? All look pretty normal to me.

PurpleJustice · 22/06/2024 09:09

I always like to be comfortable and warm on planes.

Usually leggings, tshirt and hoodie with socks/trainers.

I wouldn't wear a dress because it restricts how I sit. I hate open toe'd shoes in airports, too busy and I'd be worried about tripping over or someone stepping/ rolling over my foot or something. I also get cold feet, so like thick socks! I also prefer tshirts over a strappy top because I feel a bit too exposed(?) somehow?

I love the loose Zara trousers someone linked above, so might swap them for my leggings!

Off the plane I just take my jumper off.

Cheeesus · 22/06/2024 07:39

I think the Not Jeans bit is key. Anything that’s isn’t jeans is fine if you layer.

What's wrong with jeans? I don't think I've ever travelled in anything else

I find them too hot for 30 degree weather. And the OP is saying they need something that is suitable for that.

But also that she's going from the airport straight to air-conditioned transport to the hotel. So all these special layering outfits are just a bit unnecessary.

Just seems a bit pointless worrying about the temperature change from UK to destination when you'll only be uncomfortable for about 10 minutes till you get to your room and can change.

PrincessOfPreschool · 22/06/2024 09:32

Light, baggy trousers, T shirt, sandals (take socks for plane if long haul). If I'm travelling at the other end for any length of time I pack some shorts or skirt which can put on in toilet when landed.
