What are the comfiest shoes you own?

Going on holiday in a couple of months to Disney. I’ve been warned to expect to walk 5-10 miles a day, but don’t want to wear walking boots. What are the comfiest shoes you own that aren’t ugly? Expecting the weather to be warm/dry with possibility of it raining, and hoping to buy early to wear them in a bit. Show me your shoes!

Stan Smiths.. tried to switch the vejas and they are soooo uncomfortable compared to stanny's

Birkenstocks but I think you might have left it too late to get them to the heaven-on-the-feet stage. Takes a while.

CHEESEY13 · 20/06/2024 11:41

Not trainers - far from it - but my hiking boots. Marvellous. Since I had my toes amputated it took me ages to find suitable footwear that stays on! Anything lace-up is ideal, but it comes close to heart-breaking when I see all the lovely shoes in the shops that I can't wear......

blanketjune · 20/06/2024 12:03

Brooks trainers. Like clouds

Thescarynun · 20/06/2024 12:35

Birkenstocks, Fitflop or Clarks Funny Dream which really are a dream to walk in

CaveMum · 20/06/2024 12:52

We did Disney over Easter. I wore my Nike Air Pegasus running trainers and never had an issue - highest step count on a single day was 27,000. I would say take 2 pairs of shoes as if you get caught in the rain (and as you are there in summer it will rain at some point most days) you will need a backup pair while they dry.

Also take flip flops that you can wear on the water rides (Kali River Rapids, the new Tiana's Bayou Adventure) - take a ziplock bag that you can put your regular shoes (and electronic devices!) in to keep them dry, or use a locker.

Clarks Women's Un Loop Mocassins. Not the prettiest of shoes but very comfortable. I've had mine for months and walked miles in them. They are nicknamed 'nurses shoes' for a reason!

MaisyMary77 · 20/06/2024 13:37

I know you said no crocs but they do some lovely sandals. I had a pair for Disney last year. Absolutely brilliant and nobody could tell they were crocs 😁

Have a few pairs of shoes that you can rotate with IMO.

I have wide feet, and my go to shoes are:

I can't stand having hot feet so can't go a whole day in the trainers. I recently did a UK theme park day and did 14,000 steps in the Havaianas. They're my favourite out of the three and easy to chuck in a bag too as a backup if you start out wearing trainers.

Last time we went to Florida it was so wet my feet got totally soaked which meant I ended up with horrendous blisters across the whole of the underside of my foot. That's when I ended up buying the D'Lux walkers as I needed something my feet weren't going to slide in.

I think we worked out that last time we went we walked about 90 miles in two weeks and we only did maybe 8 days in the theme parks.

And on that note, if you're doing the water rides at Universal, take an entire change of clothes! You'd think clothes dried quickly in the heat but the humidity doesn't help and you will have wet underwear!

Birkenstocks

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 20/06/2024 14:10

For me it's barefoot trainers. Anything else I feel cramped in. Been wearing Vivobarefoot trainers for years. They're lightweight and super flexible. The last time I wore ordinary trainers, traipsing round London, my feet swelled up for two days.

Mumofoneandone · 20/06/2024 14:41

ECCO or Birkenstocks are my go to!

Ecco trainers
Camper trainers
I don't wear sandals

Hush puppies trainers

As per pp, a good pair of running shoes are my lifesaver. Lots of people like Asics but I am a Brooks fan. Some running shops will assess your gait and let you know if you need a neutral or supportive shoe.

If you want a sandal, my podiatrist recommended oofos (like a fitflop) and I love mine. I have gigged in them and can wear them all day.

Have a lovely comfy holiday!

If you're going to Florida, you need sandals or mesh sneakers that will dry easily and not fall apart if drenched, because you can experience downpours. Ideally, you'd have two pairs, and wear one while the other dries.

I have a very comfortable pair of Tevas with a toe post. They're ancient. Keen sandals are great too, but fugly. I also have a pair of Nike mesh sneakers, but they're also really old.

Propet and Ryka are other brands you might like to look at.

You might like to consider slides with socks, and bring extra socks.

Yes to this, and they last for years.

Meraas · 20/06/2024 16:49

Trainers are the most comfy but sounds like you mean shoes not trainers?

Merrell sandals are very good for walking.

Ecco Soft 2.0 shoes are very comfortable too, plus velcro for east fastening.

rhiannon1967 · 20/06/2024 17:12

Skechers Flex Appeal trainers. I've walked around Disney and Universal and plenty of other theme parks in them. Other trainers may be more stylish and I wouldn't wear the Skechers on a daily basis, but if I'm doing a theme park, zoo or even a full on day of Christmas shopping for me it's got to be the Skechers. Absolutely nothing beats them for comfort.

Whatever you pick, definitely pick for comfort over style. You will walk miles and miles after which you won't care what they look like. You'll just want to be comfortable.

ExhaustedHousewife · 20/06/2024 20:58

My skechers bobs sandals are genuinely the comfiest shoes I've ever owned,I walk miles in those bad boys.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 20/06/2024 21:49

Shoes wise I love my Sketchers (have a few pairs) but if it's warm I prefer sandals . Mine are from Clarks. They were called something like Un Wave but they stopped making them years ago .

bellocchild · 20/06/2024 21:53

I second Teva Tirra. I've acquired quite a few of the colours, for variety, and they are incredibly hard-wearing.
