What are the comfiest shoes you own?

Going on holiday in a couple of months to Disney. I’ve been warned to expect to walk 5-10 miles a day, but don’t want to wear walking boots. What are the comfiest shoes you own that aren’t ugly? Expecting the weather to be warm/dry with possibility of it raining, and hoping to buy early to wear them in a bit. Show me your shoes!

Platform converse are the most comfortable shoes I own. I can walk miles in them and they go with everything.

Crocs.

Yep.

BuggeryBumFlaps · 19/06/2024 22:06

Reiker trainers, I prefer the high top type as normal trainers slip off my heel and can cause blisters.

Merrell are walking boots at heart, but do trainers.

Tbh no one cares or looks at your feet, everyone knows that comfort is king, so wear whatever doesn't give you blisters or hurts your feel.

birkenstock soft footbeds

I wore sandals by Pavers. Look very similar to sketchers go walk sandals but cheaper. I wore them around the florida parks with no issue. So comfortable

Advice for Disney (assume you are going to Florida?) in Aug/Sept - take at least two pairs of comfortable, worn in shoes. On several occasions we have been caught in a torrential downpour that drenched our shoes to the extent that we couldn’t wear them the following day. Two years ago we did an average of 11 miles a day. We go every other year, but that was the first time we had a step counter. We were amazed at how much walking we did.

I was going to say similar to @IncognitoUsername and recommend two pairs for the exact reason that due to a downpour or water ride, your trainers may end up wet. I prefer crocs and they tend to get me around the parks in tact and they are great for drying off in no time too.

A separate tip too - and it may sound bizarre when we talking about shoes for the parks so it’s off topic - but I recommend a ‘chub rub’ stick too for thighs, shoulders if carrying a rucksack and also good for feet that have rubbed - we found it so useful.

My Birkenstock Arizona EVA's in the summer.

RamonaRamirez · 19/06/2024 22:35

Cheap soft Nikes

Any old style, the lightweight mesh type (used to be called downshifter) are my go to for any city trips where I have to walk all day

Twoshoesnewshoes · 19/06/2024 22:39

Elle sport trainers
amazingly comfortable , often on offer in TKMaxx

newandconfused5 · 19/06/2024 23:02

Another vote for vivobarefoot..

I struggle to wear any other shoe. But be warned, wear them for a week or so before you go to get used to them first!

Have fun

Geox - have pounded the streets of Rome, Venice, Berlin, Krakow, Prague for MILES and MILES in various Geox leather trainers and they have never let me down.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 20/06/2024 00:38

Birkenstocks

I have worn them for so many full on warm weather days. Including 40,000 steps in a day on one holiday.

I did Disney in DMs but would now prefer my birks.

Doobydolly · 20/06/2024 04:39

Birkenstock sandals. I live in mine and can walk for miles in them

MessyNeate · 20/06/2024 05:28

Another new balance fan here. 13 hour shifts on a busy neonatal unit.

Or ASICS cumulus gel

My Asics running shoes
My Chatham deck shoes (I walked from Pisa to Sienna in a previous pair of these).
My Paula Urban sandals.

I've been to Disney in Florida a few times. I agree with PP, take more than one pair of shoes! And whatever you take needs to be worn in, so you know they're comfortable, particularly if you don't normally walk a lot in your day to day life. I do walk miles regularly, and took a pair of absolutely ancient Nikes, some old and comfy sandals from Clarks and some Skechers. It very much depends on your feet, too. Birkenstocks flap about on my feet and fall off, and I find them really uncomfortable. Not that safe either, for climbing on and off rides.

Whatineed · 20/06/2024 06:06

HOFF sandals - cushioned and comfortable
Stan Smiths trainers

Birkenstock Bend Low Decon in fabric.

What are the comfiest shoes you own?
Thursdaygirl · 20/06/2024 07:00

Skechers. Sorry.

JoJothegerbil · 20/06/2024 07:12

Fitflop Rally. Mine did miles in Australia. I wore them to Krakow recently where we averaged 15k steps a day. I have had plantar fasciitis in the past so needed something with arch support.

GlueNoGlue · 20/06/2024 07:34

Thanks for all the suggestions. I’d rather not go than go in crocs, but I’ll look into the other suggestions and definitely take the advice to take more than one pair of shoes!

I've just bought some On Cloud trainers, they are amazing. If it's not too hot for them
