Eyeshadows - all about them!! ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ

How many do you own? Which ones are your favourite and why? Your best combinations? The ones you still canโ€™t get right? If you only could keep one?

I have 3 MAC for my green-grey eyes, Satin Taupe, All That Glitters and Sable. Keep one - Dior Beige Mitzah. UD Tease - Matte option for work. On the lookout for brown and light neutral colours that would not make me look tired but would be good clean look with a bright lip.

Tom Ford Nude Dip quad. I need nothing else

Littleguggi · 02/06/2024 20:09

I have some really luxurious ones but I always go back to my too faced chocolate palette.

ASighMadeOfStone · 02/06/2024 20:36

Mac Paint pot in groundwork.
Ditched the palettes, this is all I need.

buffyslayer · 02/06/2024 21:05

You might like MAC woodwinked. The ELF palettes (they've got 4 shades) are amazing despite the low price

As for how many I have.... Blush

The only palette I'd repurchase is UD Naked Honey but that's a bit big.
I'm on a constant quest for a smaller, pigmented neutrals palette that isn't mainly pink tones!!

Colourpop do really good small palettes, I tend to buy when they have international shipping free on

Nice range of pat mcgrath there!

Proudofitbabe · 02/06/2024 21:31

Thanks @buffyslayer I'll have a look!

This thread just led me on a Google search, I like the look of the VB Smoky Eye Brick in Silk but for ยฃ56 I want to KNOW!

BakeOffRewatch · 02/06/2024 22:01

You might like the Lisa Eldridge Cinnabar palette @Proudofitbabe . I havenโ€™t tried it but itโ€™s on my list. I love the Hourglass face palettes and was thinking of trying their build your own palettes too.

I used to use the Laura Mercier eye caviar sticks, one in a pearl and another in aubergine colour. I donโ€™t wear eyeshadow much so have taken to purchasing limited edition mini palettes at Christmas. The last one I got was the NARS Unwrapped Mini Eyeshadow Palette in Laguna, um Christmas 2021! Some of the colours are down to the pan now, the sparkly ones remain, so would like to get a proper non seasonal palette. https://www.temptalia.com/nars-laguna-unwrapped-mini-eyeshadow-palette-review-swatches/

Keeping an eye on this thread. That Tom Ford palette is gorgeous @wizarddry

I like the Bobby Brown one on a stick in a sort of taupe colour. Itโ€™s idiot proof which is useful as Iโ€™m hopeless at application and always looks good

buffyslayer · 03/06/2024 18:33

@MishkaNorushka yeah all my money is on perfume and makeup Grin

mdinbc · 03/06/2024 19:22

Other than using the darkest shade as an eyeliner, I never really know how to apply shadow. I have a very limited amount that usually come with a gift-with-purchase.

I have a few Sephora crayons that I do the same with.

bingohandjob · 03/06/2024 19:37

I've got a nearly used up Laura Mercier palette in brown/golds, single LM Topaz shadow as my easiest to use/go to shade (and if travelling hand luggage only, is really handy) and recently bought the Cinnabar Lisa Eldridge palette that I absolutely love - the colours and finish on them are gorgeous and they stay put all day. I usually use a LM eye caviar stick as base - either Amethyst or Au Naturel. I've really enjoyed playing around with the Lisa Eldridge palette trying out the different looks she models on her YouTube tutorials.

The Cinnabar palette is gorgeous. I like that you can refill the individual shades, too. Since I've been using it several friends have commented (without any prompting from me that eg "I'm trying a new palette" ๐Ÿคฃ) on how nice it looks on. It's so lovely, in fact, and goes out of stock so quickly that I've bought one for a best mate's Christmas present already!

Ditto. I've slowly got rid of all the others as I just defaulted to this one.

BusterGonad · 04/06/2024 03:33

I own a fair amount of eyeshadows, my favourite at the moment is my Dior quint in New Look. Whenever I wear it I get compliments. It's a cool brown taupe combo. It is extremely pigmented, so I use a steady hand amd blend blend blend.

Blueberry40 · 04/06/2024 03:59

Please donโ€™t buy or use Morphe eyeshadows! They have toxic ingredients in that can cause severe allergic reactions. Sadly I know through personal experience.

You will notice that they call them โ€˜artistry palettesโ€™ instead of eyeshadow palettes as they actually have ingredients in them that are unsafe to put near your eyes and so they can claim that it was never their intended use as they donโ€™t use the word โ€˜eyeโ€™ in the packaging.

Currently a huge lawsuit being filed against them in the USA but they are still selling the palettes in Boots in the UK last time I checked.

Mercurial123 · 04/06/2024 07:42

I have a Stila liquid eyeshadow and a duo from Korres. That's all I need.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 04/06/2024 09:38

I love the colourpop palettes as another pp mentioned.

I'm a sucker for a nostalgic collab too so it gets me every time.

JohnPrescottsPyjamas · 04/06/2024 10:07

Oh goodness, the money Iโ€™ve wasted over the years on eyeshadows/pencils on my also greeny grey eyes that donโ€™t fall into an easy colour category!

Iโ€™ve at long last settled on Charlotte Tilburyโ€™s Colour Chameleon eye stick in Bronzed Garnet. Easy to apply - blended with brush - no fuss, stays clean (always suffered from creep/smearing) lasts all day and brings out the green shade of my eyes. No faff with shading/contouring as it seems to do it itself! Finished off with whatever mascara Iโ€™m currently obsessed by and good to go.
