Anyone else hate high rise jeans/trousers?

I look terrible in high rise jeans. They really don’t flatter my bum at all. Emphasise my sticky out stomach too.

Mid rise are way better. Hold my tummy in more and make my bum look perkier. Anyone else? I love the look of high rise but they do nothing for me.

This. High rise make everyone look fatter than they are, even the very slim.

No they don’t.

Ygfrhj · 30/05/2024 12:09

Another long body short legs here and I love high rise.

Low rise my mum tum hangs over and I get a builders bum. This despite being usually a size 6/8.

Mid rise is just uncomfortable, digs in because it doesn't sit at the narrowest point.

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 30/05/2024 12:22

I bloody love Levi's Ribcage jeans too, so flattering. The high cotton/low elastane pair aren't my most comfortable jeans for sitting down in and I don't care, they look so good. I have a stretchier pair for lounging around in.

RampantIvy · 30/05/2024 12:31

No.
I'm tall, long bodied, long legs with a waist 12" smaller than my hips.

That makes me sound like a model, but I can assure you I'm not Grin

Low and mid rise jeans are incredibly uncomfortable on me as they cut me in half when I sit down, and I hate having to hitch them up all the time as they feel like they are sliding off me.

We aren't all the same body shape or height and need to have the choice of different waist heights and leg widths instead of being dictated to by the fashion police.

Completely agree, everywhere seems to be high rise, I swore by Hollister but they've stopped doing the ones I love so no idea where to look now. I have a crap bum too.

I have low rise Hollister ones too! They’re so nice I get the Jean legging ones. I managed to find some on vinted.
now they’re all annoying mid or high ones.

WeRateSquirrels · 30/05/2024 13:16

Love a high waist. I want my waistband to sit on my waist. Obviously if it's coming up to your bra, they don't fit.

DaffydownClock · 30/05/2024 13:39

BringMeTea · 29/05/2024 21:15

Love them but I am long bodied so it works well.

Me too.
Plenty more styles to choose from OP!

Arraminta · 30/05/2024 16:00

They really don't suit me. I'm short in the body and long in the leg, with flat hips and no bum. I look like Simon Cowell. Hipster jeans look good on me especially as I have a very flat tummy, thanks to surgery.

TruthorDie · 30/05/2024 16:02

Me. I have a very short body so they are super super high on me which looks terrible

HarrietPierce · 30/05/2024 16:54

I hate them . I'm 5ft 10 with a short torso and very long legs. I find them very uncomfortable`and much prefer mid rise or even low rise if I could find them.

ComingInByAnsible · 30/05/2024 17:27

I only wear high rise. They sit on my actual waist, hold in my tummy and are super comfortable. Anything else gives me a muffin top and digs in because the waistband is in the wrong place. Agree with PPs that we are all different body shapes and need different styles to suit.

PersonInBerkshire · 30/05/2024 17:38

I'm genuinely angry with this high waist trend! I need jeans, trousers and joggers and can't find any low rise ones that I like anywhere.

I'm a short apple shape and high rise are completely unwearable on me.

Most of my old trousers are shabby and worn but I have no choice but to keep wearing them, or to buy something unflattering and uncomfortable.

It's maddening that nobody wants to sell me what I need.

SageRosemary · 30/05/2024 17:53

Mine have kick-flares. High rise look fabulous on me, I'm long bodied. Don't have to worry about exposing flesh when I reach up or bend down to get something. Love, love, love them! Super comfortable, no problems sitting down to eat.

I have seen loads of mid rise jeans everywhere @PersonInBerkshire

GreenMarigold · 30/05/2024 17:58

Completely agree. I hate the feeling and look of high rise jeans on me. In theory I should have the right shape for them but they do nothing for me at all! And I HATE the feeling of them squeezing my stomach or up round my ribs when I sit down. I’ve been struggling to find the right pair of jeans for me for some time now.

SquawkerTexasRanger · 30/05/2024 18:00

i am like a Shetland pony, long of body and short of leg so high waisted trousers and jeans are the only kind I can wear

ihatecoffee · 30/05/2024 18:25

Love love love high rise! They fot me perfectly!

Hate low rise stuff as I keep pulling trousers/jeans up as they always look as though they're falling down and don't fit properly

Plus they're so uncomfortable!

twoforj0y · 31/05/2024 10:26

I'm looking for high rise as I'm in a jeans funk. I can't find a style to suit me anymore.

I'm tall - 5ft 11, and I WAS slim (uk10) but now I'm at least a stone over but it's not as simple as going up a size bigger. I am all muffin top. I am tired of swearing I will lose this new weight (it's not new, it's there since peri started a couple of years ago).

All my jeans hurt and the muffin top is like this constant reminder to be unhappy. I want to forget that ok I'm not perfect, and I need a new style of jeans so I can forget about what I'm wearing. Can anyone recommend high waisted and long leg jeans?

I disagree with the poster who said high rise makes everyone look fatter than they are.

For me, low rise makes me look shorter than I already am, but high rise sits where my actual waist is and makes me look more proportioned. I'm 5ft 2" size 8 if that makes a difference, but I'm long bodied.

size4feet · 31/05/2024 14:22

Totally depends on your body shape.
Flat arses look awful in high rise. Round and athletic arsed look good in high rise.
Also shape of the waist.

Basically those blessed with fab bum and tight core look good in high rise. Flabby or flat arses and big bellied look bad

We need some recommendations of where to find low rise!

Dededadada · 31/05/2024 18:09

High Rise forever. I wear high rise everything even underwear tbh, anything else feels like it's giving me a muffin top or is going to fall down.

nosexsos · 31/05/2024 18:10

I agree - pining for the comfy perfection of low rise non stretch 90s Replay jeans (the ones with the flowers on the label!)

VeryStressedMum · 31/05/2024 18:34

I like high rise. The waist sits in my waist and doesn't give me overspill. I'm an hourglass/ figure 8 body type with longer legs, mid rise doesn't so do well on me it stops below my belly button and flab spill over the top. Not my best look.
