Did it leave a scar? I would prefer a scar tbh....

I had a fingerprint sized flat one removed from my neck and I have an inch long scar instead.

mosschops30 · 05/04/2008 21:26

I had one removed from the top of my nose and i hated it it was like a big wart.
My GP did it, i had a scab for a few weeks and now you wouldnt know it was ever there I'm so pleased I had it done, you wouldnt even notice the scar.
Thinking of having another one taken off but would have to give up my botox shots for 6 months so trying to decide

MadameCh0let · 05/04/2008 21:54

Soupdragon, do you prefer the scar to the mole?!

Mosschops, your gp did it?! Mine tried to fob me off. Told me it would leave too big a scar. I was going to go to a private clinic and get it done by a cosmetic surgeon.

Were they removed on request?

WendyWeber · 05/04/2008 22:02

And were they hairy moles?

dinny · 05/04/2008 22:04

I went to GP as thought I had new mole on face and she was "that is a wart, I'm afraid" and says I can have it frozen off...

is that what they do with moles too?

BibiThree · 05/04/2008 22:05

I've got a hairy one about the size of half a pea between my top lip and nose and would LOVE to get it taken off, just too chicken!

had 2 taken from the back of my neck a few years ago and have small scars there.

mosschops30 · 05/04/2008 22:08

Madame yeah only one GP does it at the surgeru but he was really good, he wont touch the one in my belly button though!

I would try and get it done there if they do it or on the NHS, why should some people have to go private? It seems unfair

My brother had several moles removed from his face. (He kept cutting them up when shaving)

Doctor wanted him to sign on a paper saying he understands his face might be permanently paralyzed. Apparently, a number of nerves run through the face, making it rather dangerous to remove moles, depending on where they are on the face.

Do verify that your moles will not be dangerous to remove.

MadameCh0let · 05/04/2008 22:21

bibi three, that is exactly where my mole is too. I have a consultation on 13/6 but I don't know if they'll do it there and then, or if they'll freeze it off, laser it off, scoop it out.......

newtotheplanet, that's interesting that it only took 3 minutes. I really hope that I won't have to go back a second day.

I would love to have it done NHS, I did have one on my hip done NHS years ago because I kept scratching it when I pulled my knickers up. but I live in Ireland now but I have no health insurance because I don't work and I'm a single parent so I don't have a partner's health insurance either. I DO have a medical card thank goodness but it wouldn't cover something vanity related!

Still, I reckon if it's about 200 euro it'll be money well spent. Some people (although not me would spend that on a pair of jeans.)

On his cheeks, on the lower face (think of where his beard would be). Near the mouth, as I recall.

Sorry, it's not a subject I know much about, but just wanted to say you should check out where your moles are with respect to nerves on the face.

rookiemater · 05/04/2008 22:31

I had two removed from my chin when I was 18. Don't remember it being that sore and it was quite quick.

Downside is that for some reason the mole hairs started growing out of the scar so I had electrolysis for about 8 yrs.

MadameCh0let · 05/04/2008 22:41

lol at the barbie tampons! oh i look forward to that!

I think I will be making a Drs appointment this week - I have this hairy one on my lip and a bigish one on my chin that i'd like to get taken off, along with 2 on the side of my neck - they're getting caught in clothes and my hair gets tangled rouns them, so I hope they'll agree to take them off too.

MadameCh0let · 06/04/2008 08:35

I'm kicking myself that I lived in the UK for 15 yrs and didn't get it done on the NHS!! WHY did I only realise I should get it done now that I have to pay for it myself?? There's something funny going on in the darkess caves of my brain.

Dp had one removed from just below his ear.

They did a beautiful job, no scar.

kittywise · 06/04/2008 08:46

I had a large one taken from my back and it has left a long scar.

BibiThree · 06/04/2008 10:51

The way I look at it, a scar is usually pale and not half as noticeable as a great big brown mole waving it's hairy tentacles at passers by.

Send me brave vibes please ladies!

MadameCh0let · 06/04/2008 10:52

BibThree. Go for it. I will be right behind you!

Same as soupdragon, have now a scar about an inch long but it's along my jawline so not noticable. The scar has taken about 10 years to fade to pale pink, but I don't regret it at all.

Rolypole · 06/04/2008 11:09

OOh glad you started this, have been wondering the same thing. How do you find a plastic surgeon to do it? My gp says she's worried she'll leave a scar so won't do faces
