Please can we talk about linen trousers for the summer and which ones are the best!

Thanks!

I would like some navy linen trews this summer as I have some mega navy shoes to go with them for a party and think they would look great.

I will also need black linen ones too for every day use.

So, from your experience, where should I be looking?

Had some from Next last year but they do go baggy and huge....is that the nature of linen trousers?

I never think black linen is a good look tbh

starching them does help

I got some grey ones from M&S - Limited Collection I think. Look like they are "skinny" in shape on the hanger but actually flare out a bit in RL. Don't know if they come in other colours.... but grey would be better than black for summer imo

i've just got some really nice deep red ones from m&s but think they're linen blend

kiskideesameanoldmother · 05/04/2008 10:43

I always seem to see women's knickers through white linen trews and possibly even worse, the flab of their backside jiggling around as they walk if they don't happen to be toned. I'd avoid white like the plague.

collision · 05/04/2008 10:51

ooh yes....never wear white ones especially if you have two small boys!!

Have to say I think linen trousers are NOT the most flattering piece of clothing, esp if you have a flat bum like me, though am sure you dont have that problem!
I think skirts are much nicer in the summer...
Sorry, not very helpful I know. Also agree with the others, if you do want some please dont get them in black.

kiskideesameanoldmother · 05/04/2008 15:18

yes, lined is a must if they must be white.

OLIVIASMAMA · 05/04/2008 15:40

Marco Polo linen trousers are just the best but they are about £100 a pair so they bloody should be..... Boden ones are good too but they did nothing for my shape, too high in the waist for me but they are great quality and not see through!!

I had a fab pair from French Connection but they were heavy linen - bought a pair the next year which went really baggy - fabric just not as good - caveat emptor - think you have to spend a lot for quality like oliviasmama says

OLIVIASMAMA · 05/04/2008 15:42

oops - a bit over keen there!

janeite · 05/04/2008 16:13

I have some black Limited Collection wide leg ones which are quite nice. However, they make my tummy itch - does anybody else have this problem?!

Monkeybird · 05/04/2008 16:28

Lined ones are also good if you have (as I do ) fat thighs and linen wears through in about 5 minutes.

Chluro · 05/04/2008 17:10

WTF is wrong with black linen trousers. I have FOUR pairs and Monsoon have been the best for me
