Please can we talk about linen trousers for the summer and which ones are the best!

Thanks!

I would like some navy linen trews this summer as I have some mega navy shoes to go with them for a party and think they would look great.

I will also need black linen ones too for every day use.

So, from your experience, where should I be looking?

Had some from Next last year but they do go baggy and huge....is that the nature of linen trousers?

I like black linen as well...

ItsNotYouItsMe · 05/04/2008 17:57

I like black linen too...

I've bought two pairs from New Look, cheap, yes - £16 each I think - but a lovely fit and I don't want them to last as I am carrying baby-weight still. I hope that I lose the weight before the trousers wear out.

bigspender30 · 05/04/2008 18:43

I think if the cut of linen trousers is cheap, they make you look much bigger than you are which I don't need! Where can I buy a non cheap white pair that don't show my pants??

fizzbuzz · 05/04/2008 19:02

ALL linen gives a bit when worn, cheap or not. It is one of the properties of the fibre.

I have to teach this to A2 so I know about it. Itchyness tends to be more of a cheap problem, as more expensive fabric has a higher thread count so smoother...............

littlerach · 05/04/2008 19:05

I have black linen one sform Monsoon and they are fine.
Just a PITA to iron.

brimfull · 05/04/2008 19:05

these hobbs ones are incredibly comfy

janeite · 05/04/2008 19:22

Thanks Fizzbuzz - they were £40 Limited Collection - is that cheap in the world of linen? Looks like I'd better keep tucking a vest in then to keep them away from my skin!

fizzbuzz · 05/04/2008 19:38

Weeeeelll,,,,they probably cost 1/2 that to make......BUT much better quality linen than Primark all the same!!!

You could be allergic to them, silk is the only fabric that doesn't cause any allergies BUT, on further thought, it is probably the way the yarn was spun. If it was made to be quite textured then it may be the staples of the yarn irritating you.

I am allergic to everything under the sun, and some linen does this to me, but not the smoother stuff (cheap or not)

Am sure you will look very fetching with tucked in vest, or perhaps some nice big pants would do the trick as well [wink[

janeite · 05/04/2008 19:47

Lol at big pants. In fact dp told me I'd got Bridget Jones pants on yesterday; in fact they were very nice boy shorts. Men!

I love silk and it's so easy to wear but somehow I can't quite see me in silk trousers - far too 1970s!

DarthVader · 05/04/2008 20:06

I have these ones

ChipButty · 05/04/2008 20:09

Try wearing 'nude' coloured pants under white as they don't show through.

bigspender30 · 06/04/2008 12:21

ooh darthvader-they look nice!

SheikYerbouti · 06/04/2008 12:25

I want some linen kecks, but I am short and fat with wobbly thighst and a big overhanging belly.

So they always look shit one me.

Can anyone recommend some?

edam · 06/04/2008 12:25

does anyone know how to stop linen trousers, or jackets, from creasing very badly? If you dare to sit down in linen trousers you get very nasty horizontal lines IME.

DJCod · 06/04/2008 12:53

h and m
pale grey £14 99

CrackerOfNuts · 06/04/2008 13:06

Anyone know the best place for petite linen trousers ?

Last year I tried loads of places, but their petite versions were all crap, either too long or too short, and everywhere seems to assume that if you are petite you must be fat aswell as short as they were all HUGE around the arse.

Bridie3 · 06/04/2008 13:07

I bought black linen drawstrings from Sainsbury. They have been admired. I iron them with starch.

janeite · 06/04/2008 14:42

Best place for Petitie is Principles. Starch is vital for all linen.

newshmoo · 06/04/2008 17:43

I find that a linen viscose mix fairs better for wear and tear, last longer and still keep you cool. Is there any advantage to pure linen?
