What do you think of this leopard print dress?

I’m thinking of getting this to wear to a wedding in 10 days time.

I’m 38, 5ft 8, and a doughy size 12.

My mission is to find something that will cover up my pale speckly legs, my wide bum, and my flabby arms, and yet not look frumpy.

It’s been quite a challenge to find something and I am hoping that this fits the bill. But what do you think?
My sister gave me a very sceptical look when I told her I was considering a leopard print dress. I’m more of a ‘ditsy flower’ person really, but I’m fancying something more sophisticated (?!)

Opinions please, I am rubbish at online clothes shopping.

I personally think it's boring for a wedding. You're in your 30s, find something that makes you feel fabulous! Not something 'that will do'.

It just looks like a dress I'd wear to potter around town in, in the autumn (I'm in my late 20s)

Have a look on oh polly, or quiz.

I really like it and think it would be very flattering. Would look summery if worn with sandals

Fraaahnces · 12/06/2024 01:30

Honestly, my take on it is that this is a one day event. Unless you are the MOTB or scandalously wearing white to make a statement, nobody will be looking at you. I think the dress is great. Even better if you are likely to wear it again. Given that the UK is not known for super hot weather, there is a very good chance that this dress could be a valuable addition to your wardrobe. (Especially if you feel fabulous in it.)

I like the dress too. The summer we've had so far, you're very unlikely to be too hot in it!

I also like the short-sleeved M and S dress in animal print, that someone put up.

Not fond of the giant puffy sleeves that seem to be popular Confused think they look awful.

Dress is great for a wedding! Go for it.

NotbloodyGivingupYet · 12/06/2024 09:11

Given what's passing for summer at the moment I'm struggling to see why that dress isn't summery enough for a wedding!
I was expecting to dislike it but I think it's lovely and perfectly suitable. Love the suggestion of acid green accessories from a pp.

TheChosenTwo · 12/06/2024 09:15

I’m guessing the wedding has been and gone now, what did you wear OP?!

blackcherryconserve · 12/06/2024 09:23

It's so cold now that you might be grateful to be wearing long sleeves whatever the print you choose!

Christine1998 · 12/06/2024 09:44

I think it’s a bit more autumn/winter. The style is lovely and the other colour would be nice for a wedding. It will look good if you do plan on wearing it. It’s personal preference and what you feel like is more important. They have similar on ax Paris at a fraction of the cost if you do want to change colour.

MabelMaybe · 12/06/2024 12:17

If the wedding's in 10 days' time I'd wear it. Apparently no-one's told the weather it's now summer, so I'd go for a dress that keeps you warm when dithering in front of the photographer over pretty summer floral.

Waffle78 · 12/06/2024 15:18

It's a lovely dress but not for a wedding.
