What do you think of this leopard print dress?

I’m thinking of getting this to wear to a wedding in 10 days time.

I’m 38, 5ft 8, and a doughy size 12.

My mission is to find something that will cover up my pale speckly legs, my wide bum, and my flabby arms, and yet not look frumpy.

It’s been quite a challenge to find something and I am hoping that this fits the bill. But what do you think?
My sister gave me a very sceptical look when I told her I was considering a leopard print dress. I’m more of a ‘ditsy flower’ person really, but I’m fancying something more sophisticated (?!)

Opinions please, I am rubbish at online clothes shopping.

I think it is lovely, some gold accessories would set it off a treat and heels or flats but not winter boots of course,

NoSnowdrop · 20/05/2024 21:18

Gorgeous dress and I agree can be styled for various seasons. OP I’d love to be your height and dress size, I bet you will look great!

Mirabai · 20/05/2024 21:27

Do you have a neat waist? Otherwise that elasticated waist will be very unflattering.

I have ordered it, along with a couple of options, so will just have to try it and see! I’m not as tidy as that model, but I go in and out at the right places, thanks mostly to my generous posterior!

I’m not really fat, just pasty and un-toned, which is why not keen on getting the limbs out. I usually look okay under a layer of fabric though!

If you’re a pear shape and you carry your weight on your bum it could be really flattering. I’m an apple so elastic waists are a no for me.

Might look too cheap in real life but this is mor summery and weddings.

Thanks, that’s a lovely dress! I’m aiming for more arm coverage, but I will hold it in mind in case I end up on a panic buying mission to the highstreet this weekend!

I don't like the print.
Sorry.

WonderingWanda · 20/05/2024 21:48

Not animal print but I like this one too!

NoWeaponsOnTheTable · 20/05/2024 21:51

I like a bit of leopard print but I think it's horrid, sorry.
It looks cheap and the long sleeves make it more autumn. The pleated skirt and shape are awful even on the model.
I'm sure you can find something much nice op.

Unlovedgrandchild · 20/05/2024 21:57

I think it's great actually - as leopard prints go, it's quite light, it has a lighter background.

With gold strappy shoes it would look great.

midlifepisces · 20/05/2024 21:59

I really don't think that leopard print one would flatter anyone tbh. It's cheap and frumpy and not summmer weddingy! There are tonnes of lovely dresses around at the moment, M&S is a good shout. You can do better OP!!

WeightoftheWorld · 20/05/2024 22:04

I like it but I wouldn't say it's for a wedding.

that's two of us that like it 😁

iamwhatiam23 · 21/05/2024 08:59

I love it but its not for a summer wedding.

Maddy70 · 21/05/2024 10:22

Itsthedress · 20/05/2024 03:05

Thanks. I was a bit afraid it looks too wintery. Would wearing it with sandals make any difference?

There are actually more summery patterns available, but sadly not in the sale!

This is more weddingy

Alittlefrustrated · 21/05/2024 10:49

I have leopard print that i wear in summer. I think it would be great with gold strappy sandals. If not, the other prints aren't that much more, for a dress that you could wear for years.

MarkWithaC · 21/05/2024 11:45

I like it and I don't see why either leopard or long sleeves automatically mean 'autumn'; I wear both in summer!
Having said that, for a wedding I'd wear it with bright shoes etc rather than black or metallic; I'm thinking lime-green or poster-paint-blue sandals. Or maybe a warm or hot pink, or coral.

I agree with this. All of it😁

RacketsAndRounders · 21/05/2024 18:51

Second dress is lovely but you might get hot in long sleeves.

What shape are you? Apple shape looks great with a skater or empire line. Something that shapes around the bust and flares over the tummy. Sleeves that finish above the elbow are flattering.

You want to show flesh on the slimmest bits X

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 21/05/2024 19:24

Well, ever since seeing a certain wildlife programme, I have self-identified as a baboon (as has my friend Clive).
The programme goes on to say that a favorite food of the lepeord is, in fact, baboon.
So seeing someone wearing a lepeord-print dress is, without doubt, certainly going to put the willies up me. (I can't say how Clive would respond.) So you may want to reconsider.

Shocked Oh No GIF

Anyone else have one of those days today and you also remember it’s half term next week too

LittleTalkingMan · 22/05/2024 09:46

We had someone wearing leopard print in our wedding and unfortunately it stuck out like a sore thumb in the photos.

I am not a fan of animal prints at all though.

SatinHeart · 22/05/2024 09:52

I actually don't mind that dress but just can't get my head round "leopard print" and "wedding" in the same sentence.
