MAC Silky Matte in Mehr. I have about 6 or 8 lippies on the go at any one time but this is the one I couldn't be without. I've been wearing it for about 13 years.

L'Oréal Paris Cherry. I think it's already been discontinued but you can still get it online sometimes.

Another Clinique Black Honey fan. So versatile, light, moisturising, with a decent nude liner it layers well for a more "made up" look.

I'm 42 and still don't have a 'go to' lipstick. Most that I've bought have proven to be not the right fit for my face - I wonder if I'm attracted to colours that don't suit me so I'm filtering out the ones that do before I've even tried them on. How do you pick a lipstick? Do you go in full make up and apply them to your lips? If so,how do you compensate for the fact that after one lipstick application your lips are more flushed than they would naturally be - either through staining or wiping them off! Am I over thinking this??

A tip I picked up decades ago was to test on the pad of a fingertip not your wrist, as the colour there more accurately reflects that of your lips, also something about moisture. Think it works!

@fforgivingfiggy why don't you go to Boots, get scanned for foundation then take a look at the lipstick match (based of foundation shade) you can then either try a No7 one or look out for similar shades in other brands.
