Online brands similar to Seasalt, Fatface, Cotton Traders

Can you recommend me some sites to look at please? I like Seasalt but find it a bit costly. I am not particularly interested in fashion, but I have decided at the grand old age of 60 that I need slightly pricier items of clothing made predominantly from natural fibres. So far I have looked at Long Tall Sally (great for trouser length as I am tall, but generally I don't like their style) Fatface (I like) Seasalt (like, but it is a bit expensive for what it is) Cotton Traders (seems a bit fuddy duddy but perhaps that is where I am now?)

My go to for years has been M&S but I can't find anything I like there this year, and low end shops such as Primark and H&M but I just feel out of place there now.

Are there any online retailers you can recommend? I know a Mumsnet favourite is to say Uniqlo but I feel so unsure of their sizing.

TLDR: recommend me some online retailers of clothing from natural fibres.

White Stuff - great quality and jolly

I love Seasalt, agree about the price. Bought a dress last week and googled to see if there was a voucher code, got about 20 percent off.

Nightblindness · 08/05/2024 22:45

Wow I had no idea about the Seasalt ebay shop. I can't see anything immediately I want, but the prices are phenomenal. Are they last year's stock or something?

Tu from Sainsbury's sometimes.
Not sure if they are for tall women.

Seasalt is really good quality. I've been really impressed by Cotton Traders too but they're probably more everyday clothes than 'S&B'. Their shoes are comfortable.

Thought is good for the odd piece. Size down though.

Last season, stuff in current sales, various things seem to come and go, from what I've seen.

Constantly updated.

I find occasional things I like in Lucy and Yak (although some of it looks like a wonka factory explosion they have good natural fibres) and H and M online - with H and M you have to be lucky, some of the stuff is very itchy and plastic ish but if you’re careful you can find some really nice things at a reasonable price. I’ve got some lovely linen wide leg pin stripe trousers from there last week which were about £15.

A lot of last year’s, but I think as long as you like it that’s ok. They have classics like Larissa and Appletree, guess they must be last season’s colours or low sellers.

The White Stuff eBay site is great too. I just bought some sandals for £17 a few minutes ago. I bought three dresses from there last week for less than £80 total. One was £14 and it’s lovely. I only buy from official outlets on eBay, brand new with tags.

I agree with you about Seasalt’s regular site/shops. The majority of my wardrobe comes from there but this year I just can’t justify the price, particularly for “tunic” style tops. I haven’t bought anything full price from them at all this year, which must be a first in a long time.

Tootiredforallthiscrap · 09/05/2024 11:42

Seasalt also does a discount code for NHS workers, something like 20% off. Makes it less spendy. And yes the eBay shop is amazing. There are current season items in too, presumably returns so not always a good range of sizes. I got a linen blazer which is still for sale on the website.

Nightblindness · 09/05/2024 20:43

Well, I don't know why it has never occurred to me to try ebay for bargains. I think I still think of ebay as a place where people sell their cast offs (nothing wrong with that, by the way, but I prefer the security of buying new). I glanced through ebay earlier and found another retailer (not Seasalt itself) selling Seasalt, amongst other brands, new but at discounted prices. I have bought a couple of tops for under £40 for the two, which is pretty good going for Seasalt stuff.

Now going to work my way through the suggestions for other brands people have mentioned here.
