Online brands similar to Seasalt, Fatface, Cotton Traders

Can you recommend me some sites to look at please? I like Seasalt but find it a bit costly. I am not particularly interested in fashion, but I have decided at the grand old age of 60 that I need slightly pricier items of clothing made predominantly from natural fibres. So far I have looked at Long Tall Sally (great for trouser length as I am tall, but generally I don't like their style) Fatface (I like) Seasalt (like, but it is a bit expensive for what it is) Cotton Traders (seems a bit fuddy duddy but perhaps that is where I am now?)

My go to for years has been M&S but I can't find anything I like there this year, and low end shops such as Primark and H&M but I just feel out of place there now.

Are there any online retailers you can recommend? I know a Mumsnet favourite is to say Uniqlo but I feel so unsure of their sizing.

TLDR: recommend me some online retailers of clothing from natural fibres.

@Nightblindness
There is another thread on Mumsnet about a fake Seasalt site.

www.dorothyperkins.com has some lovely cotton dresses at very reasonable prices (and there is a 15% discount code at the top of the Home page)

Laura Ashley clothing is now sold through www.next.co.uk

Have a browse on John Lewis's site, they stock loads of high street clothing brands. The reviews on individual pieces are handy too for the heads up on sizing and such like.

Community Clothing are similar, but not cheaper, bit you might like their ethics.

Crew Clothibg have some similarity, headline prices are similar to Seasalt, but they have frequent sales.

For strioey tops, coloured chinos and corduroy shirt dresses, Tu at Sainsbury's is not bad? But you'll have to search through other stuff.

I just bought some tops from passenger. Lovely long tops with long ape arms for me :)

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 01/06/2024 21:42

Poetry. Not cheap, but natural fabrics.

HesterRoon · 01/06/2024 22:42

Wrap London, Poetry and Celtic and Co are much more expensive than Seasalt! More like Toast prices. Seasalt sale is pretty good.

MrsCarson · 01/06/2024 22:57

Depending on your size, Yours has some Long tall sally stuff online in their sale.
I like Lands End
White stuff
M&S
Roman
Dd and Dil like Cider

TheRomanticOutlaw · 02/06/2024 00:32

I love the Seasalt Ebay shop, I honestly haven't bought a full price item from them for years. And their stuff is really good quality so it washes well & lasts ages. Free delivery over £20 (usually) and free returns so no problem if things don't fit.

Mountain warehouse for cotton shirts

Blackcats7 · 02/06/2024 07:13

Another vote for Brakeburn.

Ellaelle · 02/06/2024 10:48

Mango, although I haven't shopped there in over a decade

wizarddry · 02/06/2024 10:52

The people tree site doesn't work for me :( :(

Cantonet · 02/06/2024 11:01

There was some Sea salt in High Street Bargains on Instagram yesterday.

Ahh I've just seen that they went into liquidation last year. Looks like they only have stock on some reseller sites like asos.

Lifeomars · 02/06/2024 13:20

Interesting thread, I love Seasalt, have a few of their dresses and the quality is lovely but the prices are ouch! Not bought anything from them this year, I sometimes get some nice stuff from Sainsburys Tu and they have great reductions sometimes.

PrincessofWells · 02/06/2024 16:09

I know you said you don't like Primark but I bought a beautiful neutral pure linen shirt last week for £22. It's a lovely heavyweight linen too. Also a lovely blue 100% cotton summer dress. I'm your age but I do find in shops at present it takes a lot of hunting down to get good natural fibre clothing.

I also use Cos a lot, mostly in sales but also on Vinted. Toast outlet is pretty good too depending upon your sizing requirements. Zara also do some good natural fibre things but you do need to check fibre content!

PrincessofWells · 02/06/2024 16:12

And don't forget Muji!

gardenmusic · 02/06/2024 18:29

If you are looking for outerwear, Craghoppers have some very good coat sales in the summer.

WhereAreWeNow · 02/06/2024 20:32

Seasalt ebay shop. I got DD a coat there for half the usual price.

Aknifewith16blades · 03/06/2024 19:14

Albaray - great cotton dresses

BigPandaTinyDragon · 03/06/2024 19:34

Is Roman really one for this list? Everything I’ve seen from there has been stuff you wouldn’t go near a naked flame while wearing.

mitogoshi · 03/06/2024 19:36

@BigPandaTinyDragon

Roman has done nice clothes but like so many bulk retailers they have other pieces I wouldn't be seen dead in

Vettrianofan · 03/06/2024 19:40

Another vote for Brakeburn.
