Bra help please!!

I don't even know where to start.

I haven't worn a conventional bra in over 15 years. I usually make do with flimsy sports bra things off eBay. But they aren't very comfortable.

I want a proper bra, but I'm struggling to measure. I can't weight bare at all, so it's going to have to be done laying or sitting. And I tend to lean back when I sit because of my physical disabilities.

DH (bless him) has managed to get me into a half decent upright position and got 42 for bust and 50 for the boob measurement. That was with an extra inch for breathing room as I figured at normal position I'd want something looser.

If I'm right, that's a 42FF?

I'm not sure that sounds right? I'm a size 16. Not quibbling cup size. I guessed I'd be somewhere between E and F.

Getting a proper fitting isn't possible as our closest fitting option is the middle of London!

I'm thinking I need to order a bunch of sister sizes? Given I can't sit properly, can I still wear underwired?

When I had a bra professionally fitted years ago it was underwire and fabulous. But my mum hated it, refused to launder it because it was sexy, so I eventually gave up totally on nice underwear.

Thank you ladies.

If you exhaust all the options available in the UK, I highly recommend this company:
https://decentexposures.com/

They make bras to measure, which are non-wired and don’t have fasteners, just an elastic band all the way round, so you can put them on over your head. They are a small American company and I’ve found them very helpful in customising the fit. I’ve had a couple of bras from them which I wear for comfort as a lounge bra. Expensive but last forever.

Organic Bras Made in USA - Decent Exposures, Inc.

Comfortable bras and organic cotton underwear made in the USA for all shapes, sizes, and sensitivities.

Thank you @Keepingongoing

May I ask how much you pay per bra?

Hi op, I can't tolerate wired bras.
I recently bought a couple of boody bras - the fuller busy ones. They're pull on style but the cups give you nice support and you can adjust the straps for tension. I'm - 16 and got a large.

@Spencer0220 I think mine were about $100 plus shipping from the US, but that was with the most expensive fabric which was about $30 more than the standard fabric. It was a lot but they’re so well made, long lasting and comfortable, they’re worth it to me. There are customising options - I’ve just noticed they’ll do front closure, for instance. They can also adjust certain things after you receive the bra. I was emailing back and forth before getting my newest one, they were extremely helpful and I would imagine would be responsive to issues arising from disability. Feel free to PM me if you’d like more info.
PS I don’t have any relationship with this company, just a customer!
