Boobs?

😉☺️
My daughter is getting married soon and I have my eye on a dress from One Hundred Stars.

I have an ample bosom that has been part of my life sinceI was a teenager so I am used to it.
I am in my 60s now.

In the past I would have definitely worn something that enhanced my embonpoint but would prefer a dress that flows around my body.

I don't usually wear prints, mostly plain tunics and dresses with skirts and coloured tights and DMs.

However I have seen some lovely dresses on One Hundred Stars.

I know that this full dress look doesn't always go down well on Style and Beauty 😉
I would like to hear if anyone has worn these dresses and do they like them?

Quite happy to go outside my comfort zone and my budget is up to £150 if anyone has other suggestions.

Where did you live? Also have you looked at Sahara, at the shop in Marylebone they stock one hundred stars, so you could try things on

DrJoanAllenby · 19/04/2024 18:29

They are more casual dresses not really mother of the bride.

SadCelticBunny · 19/04/2024 18:30

Hi, I am in South Wales so I will probably have to order online. I do prefer trying things on in shops as a dress that looks forgettable on the hanger can look amazing on the body!

I will search for other stockists in cities that are closer, thank you.

My favourite shop in Cardiff closed, it stocked Ewa I Walls, Privitaschen, Oska etc.i would have had to sell the dog to afford anything there but the clothes were so wonderful.

Maybe I should venture to that there Lunnon for a look around.
Though I could buy 2 dresses by the time I pay the train fare!

I must admit I was hoping to find something on eBay or Vinted, I enjoy wearing a bargain.

It's a very informal wedding, I have been toldI I can wear my DMs or my Crocs! ☺️

I definitely don't want anything that could be labelled Mother of the Bride, that is not my style at all though I think other women look wonderful l.

no, I don't think those dresses would not suit someone with ample bosom, you would look like a tent. You can still go for something flowy, but it needs a little bit of structure, draping maybe?

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 19/04/2024 19:27

I am not similarly blessed but my mum is, IME anything very loose/shapeless like that with her boobs makes her look frumpy and bigger than she is all over

soupfiend · 19/04/2024 19:30

You have to be careful you dont look like a ship in sail

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 19/04/2024 19:31

I have that Acer dress in red and it's absolutely gorgeous. However my boobs aren't as big as they used to be as I have lost weight recently. I don't know whether that style would sort of stick out at the front with big boobs.

SadCelticBunny · 19/04/2024 19:34

Oh thank you, that's a beautiful dress.
It's always a worry that it can be, here's my boobs, the rest of me will be along later!

That got me more attention than I wanted in the past, luckily definitely in the past!

I will bite the bullet and send for a dress. Now to decide which one!

Thank you all

Beautiful dresses but pleated tops are not friendly to large busts (speak from experience, unfortunately)

pepperaunt · 19/04/2024 20:28

Also, the Willow at least is hand wash only

elevens24 · 19/04/2024 20:37

I think they're too casual but I also think the style will make you look frumpy, based on how you've described your body type.

SadCelticBunny · 19/04/2024 20:40

Thank you all for your comments.

I have some lovely dresses that fit on the bosom and then flow over the rest of my body.
And a velvet duster coat that has a touch of Georgette Heyer heroine about it.

I would like to recreate that with maybe a venture into a patterned print.

Sadly all of these clothes were bought from an outlet shop that no longer exists.

I saw a wonderful yellow broderie anglaise coat that would look amazing over a linen dress.
It was my size but I hadn't realised that it was double breasted!
I tried it on and there were definitely Ada and Cissie vibes!

I roared with laughter at the faces of the assistants, who I know really well. Then they joined in, who could resist.😉😂

I often get compliments on my style so I know I will find something soon.

I look like I have shelf boobs in that style, with a curtain hanging below!

Not flattering.

This style is more flattering as it has a longer top (1)

I love the Joe Browns one attached though!

I'm am blessed in the nork department and anything that has the shape of those One Hundred Stars dresses, lovely as they are, just hangs straight down from my chest and makes me look pregnant. I find something fitted under the bust works better.

averythinline · 19/04/2024 21:27

Lovely prints although not sure that style amazing with bigger boobs.. what about their other style?

Siobhan on pottery throwdown had the willow in a v neck and looked great...

Flatleak · 19/04/2024 21:37

What do you consider to be ample bosom as I imagine it means wildly different things!

SadCelticBunny · 19/04/2024 22:01

I wore a dress like this today and was complimented and asked where it was from.

I would like something similar but not with tiers and with a strong print.

PP asked how big my bosom is?
I wear 38 FF or G bra and a size18 to fit without being too tight. I never wear shirts as they strain and gape.

I do actually like my breasts, they have served me well. Perhaps a Rubenesque figure will return to favour someday!

When I wear jeans or leggings friends say that I am slimmer than they expect. I do love a voluminous silhouette.

Watermelonsregularly (seems apt on this thread)

Those dresses are wonderful, outside my budget but I think I will go for a look at them.
Thank you

"Not being mother of the bride" is a bonus, not a bad thing.

Blueuggboots · 19/04/2024 22:32

I agree with PP's - these dresses are not going to suit an ample boobage situation.

I like that. If that's your style I think you should avoid any brand or website which punts "Mother of the Bride" outfits.

I also think you shouldn't get too hung up on hiding your boobs, making them look smaller and go for a dramatic dress. Make the most of something dramatic and swishy- be a ship in full sail.
