Does this mean I can't wear a rain coat?

guests may not wear sportswear, vest tops, leggings (including jeggings), baseball caps, casual zipped or leather jackets, sweatshirts, or fleeces at any time
What do people wear when the list is so restrictive? I usually wear clothes like this day to day
Raincoat
Jumper
Summer jacket
Non-raincoat
Does that mean I can't wear any of them? The only jacket I have without a zip is a denim one, I suppose that's not ok either?

Goodness where are you going ?

muddyford · 16/04/2024 16:13

I can't see any from your list in their's. It doesn't mention raincoats. My old employer had an identical list to wherever you are going.

MrsMoiraRose · 16/04/2024 16:15

That's strict! Is it a club?

Yes, I think that means you cannot wear outdoorsy gear. Is this just a meal or staying over etc? For just a meal, I'd assume you need to go fancy

ApolloandDaphne · 16/04/2024 16:17

Where is it you are going?

idontlikealdi · 16/04/2024 16:18

It really depends where you are going?

FatLarrysBanned · 16/04/2024 16:20

Lansdowne Club? What is the event? Dinner or a wedding? Loving the graphic on footwear.

Do Not Wear Uggs.

Does this mean I can't wear a rain coat?
JohnBetjeman · 16/04/2024 16:20

Spot on. This is main reason I don't go to Slough.

TuesdayWhistler · 16/04/2024 16:21

These sex clubs rules are getting ridiculous.
It's all just pvc and rubber cocks now.

Maybe I'm getting old, but I'll stay home in me wolf fleece thanks all the same. 🤪

DemiZen · 16/04/2024 16:26

🤣

@muddyford I was a bit worried they'd count as as a casual zipped jacket? No event.

It's a hotel, I've never been there before so I don't know if you have to stick 100% to the dress code all the time or e.g. can you walk from your room to the door to go out in normal clothes and then when you come back go straight to your room again and only need to wear posh stuff to dinner and breakfast?

MrsMoiraRose · 16/04/2024 16:29

To me they are all casual zip jackets and maybe a fleece in there too. It sounds like you can't wear them (to me)

Q124 · 16/04/2024 16:34

All the clothing you've linked to is outdoors walking /hiking type clothes. Do you not have 'normal' clothes that you could wear?

DemiZen · 16/04/2024 16:35

@MrsMoiraRose they're my poshest and most expensive clothes 😂

OP posts:
DemiZen · 16/04/2024 16:35

@Q124 those are my 'normal' clothes!

OP posts:
MrsMoiraRose · 16/04/2024 16:36

They might be very posh and expensive, but they aren't formal.

Could you borrow something from a friend? A smart coat or jacket?

DemiZen · 16/04/2024 16:46

Not really. I was hoping to travel light and those are what I would be wearing during the day.

MrsMoiraRose · 16/04/2024 16:48

Maybe the club will have something they can lend you. Or maybe just don't go if you cba 🤷‍♀️

CarrotCrush · 16/04/2024 16:50

I stayed there previously. There were people wearing jeans at mealtimes, nobody said a word to them. Once you are respectably dressed, no rips in jeans, neat and tidy, I don't think it will be a problem. Have your jacket over your arm as you leave and take it off before you get in.

Navy or black denim should be fine. Trousers, blouse/non-sporty tshirt, with a plain blazer or long cardigan was fine for our group at breakfast.

MrsMoiraRose · 16/04/2024 16:51

The code doesn't mention jeans though TBF

Cheeesus · 16/04/2024 17:03

Why would you need to wear a coat in the hotel?

If you are eating dinner, you might feel uncomfortable in a hoodie. Even a plain long sleeved tshirt would be a lot better.

DemiZen · 16/04/2024 17:07

I'm not talking about eating dinner. I'm asking about getting from the front door to my bedroom. Why would you need to wear a coat in the hotel? If it's raining outside, I'll want to wear a raincoat and you normally put that on before you go out and get wet!

(I've got jeans and a blouse for mealtimes.)

Blouse and linen trousers, dress? I have stayed in very smart hotels (5 star £££ a night) and never had issues arriving in clothes on that banned list (specifically leather jacket and Kevlar jeans as we arrive on the motorbike!) I have to wear a dress a sandals which I change into on arrival. Good enough for anywhere who wants my £250+ a night so far!

EventuallyDecluttered · 16/04/2024 17:27

Just take your coat off at the door and carry it in. Then put it on again when you reach the door to go out again. But I really don't think you'll need to.

They won’t mind you walking through in walking clothes. And if they did you could take your jacket off.

Riverlee · 16/04/2024 17:31

Basically they don’t want you to look like slobs walking around the hotel. I’m surprised about leather jackets though, they can look smart and can be expensive.

Normal everyday clothes, including raincoats, will be fine.
