How to grow hair!

Melly1991 · 09/04/2024 22:37

I've been trying to grow my hair now for the past 6 months but can never make it past my shoulders !! Does anyone know the best supplements or oils to help stimulate at least a couple of inches? I am trying everything such as laying off heat styling tools etc... I see so many beautiful styles with long hair and I'm just not having any luck growing it Sad

www.google.com
I've been using this and I've seen a definite improvement in breakage.

I also really rate this shampoo, I get mine for £9.99 in Tkmaxx.

Link hasn't worked.

Geeks Biotin supplement and Luseta Jamaican castor oil shampoo.

AtrociousCircumstance · 10/04/2024 22:37

I saw a hairdresser saying you need to use conditioner and leave in conditioner. And something lubricating on the ends between washes. And no trimming at all.

AtrociousCircumstance · 10/04/2024 22:37

Ps and shampoo first ofc!

Melly1991 · 10/04/2024 22:39

@AtrociousCircumstance I haven't cut my hair in 4 months, I use to cut it every 8 weeks but was not noticing a difference in length

*@Melly1991 Yes with Nutrihair (from Nature's Best). It makes my hair stronger and grow quickly. I haven't been using Viviscal long enough to be able to say. As PPs have said, a biotin supplement alone is also worth trying and is cheaper than the branded formulations.

Your hair is gorgeous - such a beautiful colour. There's a huge difference in just those few months.

Melly1991 · 10/04/2024 22:47

@Lovingthegrungerevival thank you I shall try that!! I am currently trying the hair burst gummies but literally only 2 weeks in.

Thank you! It's going to be such a long road ahead haha BrewBrew

How old are you?

I'm 50 and found that HRT really improved my hair length.

Melly1991 · 11/04/2024 00:08

@bippy91 I'm mid thirties, I haven't tried anything hrt for obvious reasons as don't need to. I am however on collagen gummies though and I've massively noticed a difference in my skin since taking them !

Rosemary oil /water can be made with almond oil or water plus a couple of drops of rosemary oil, very simple but really helps. Really massage the oil into the roots a couple of times a week and leave for 20 mins before washing out. I sleep with it on.

Yes, HRT wouldn't be relevant for you then!! I was just wondering, because I find my hair is generally quite affected by my hormone levels. For some years it wouldn't grow very long, but now on HRT it seems to have a new lease of life!

Tempted to try collagen gummies myself now...

Make rosemary water by putting fresh rosemary in a about 2 cups of water. Bring it to the boil then simmer for about 10 minutes. When it cools add to a spray bottle and use every morning or evening and massage in to your scalp roots. Cheap and effective.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/04/2024 08:01

I use rosemary essential oil.

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 12/04/2024 10:58

@Melly1991 from the pictures you posted, your hair growth look like a perfectly normal rate of growth.

PiggieWig · 12/04/2024 11:00

This is probably stating the bleeding obvious, but how often are you getting it trimmed? Mine’s between my bra strap and the small of my back and I only really get it cut a couple of times a year. I’ve I was more diligent I’d go every 3-4 months.
Hairdressers often tell you to go every six weeks but it’s not necessary if you’re growing it.

Melly1991 · 13/04/2024 19:44

Thanks for all your comments

@PortiaWithNoBreaks thanks! I wondered if it was growing quite fast or normal.. the amount of money I am spending on oils and supplements now to grow it faster

OP posts:
Melly1991 · 13/04/2024 19:47

@PiggieWig I have tried trimming it in the past to grow it but just keeps my hair in better condition but it's never actually growing if that makes sense

OP posts:
Melly1991 · 13/04/2024 19:48

@PiggieWig I haven't had my hair trimmed now in 3 months,

Melly1991 · 13/04/2024 19:53

Probably wishful thinking and I'm being delusional here ..... has it grown anymore in a couple of days?! hahaha

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor have you noticed a difference? Any particular brand?

Yes I have noticed a difference,my hair is in really good condition now which also helps but definitely the shedding has slowed down. Any essential oil will work.

LadyEloise1 · 14/04/2024 09:39

Does the rosemary oil make your hair greasy @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor ?
You probably wash your hair every morning after using it ?

I use it once a week or so, I massage it into my scalp leave for 20 mins then wash it off, shampoo first then add water and no greasiness. Almond oil os lovely for your hair but you can use any oil really.
