Pastel Wedding outfit

I’ve been invited to a wedding in the summer but the guests have been asked to wear pastel colours.

I am mid-40s a size 16 and suit brighter colours (Spring from a colour consultation I had a few years back). I have no idea what I’d like or even where to look. I’d like something I’ll feel good in, is good quality and I can wear again.

Any idea gratefully received!

I would just go for whatever suits you and you feel good in. It's unlikely to be grey or black!
Just avoid white or cream and think about a summery outfit that you would choose without the silly dress code. It'll be ok.

This is a version of the spring palette, so you have light yellow, pink or aqua as long as not too pale. Maybe peach which sounds dubious but might look amazing on you.
I think if the bride has asked for light colours she must realise some people will wear cream or white. It's usually obvious who the bride and bridesmaids are in any case.

Wearing white is the privilege of the bride and it's a courtesy not to wear it.
It's nothing to do with getting muddled up about who the bride is. I think most guests would be able to work that one out.

Would you be ok with polyester, OP? I find it a bit uncomfortable in the heat. I do like some of the Oliver Bonas designs, though.

I agree, that’s pretty and a good shape

Order a lot of different coloured dresses from Shein and see what colour suits you best, then send them back and then you can buy something else in your colour choice
I do this all the time

Hi @Nightshade9 download the ASOS app and have a look on there. You will definitely find something and it couldn't be any easier to navigate. There's even a pastels option!
Some of these dresses... its Spain in summer. Who wants all that material?

It's a bloody ridiculous request. In reality they are unlikely to refuse entry to someone wearing a 'too dark' colour. I'd take it to mean no dark shades and go for a bright spring colour that suits you. Something pastel-ish like a grass green or turquoise or a coral or pink. But no purple or navy or emerald or forest green or red. Show willing without having to compromise yourself. And don't FFS show the crazy bridezilla what you are planning to wear, just turn up, smile, and say 'doesn't everyone look lovely'. Then she can't order you to buy something more in keeping with her theme.

I've a friend who ditched her Shein holiday clothes, too much cheap polyester, unbearable in the heat.

This thread is an eye opener of expectations from £595 dresses to Shein (please no, unethical and very poorly made, from cheap fabrics)

I said to try on dresses find what colours suits and send them back and they buy from elsewhere knowing what colour suits

Wear what you are comfortable in, it’s rude and pretentious to dictate what your guests should wear!
