Good quality 'high street' earrings

Hi all

Looking for some help. I'd like to update my earring collection to add in some fashionable but timeless gold (looking) earrings. I'm looking for something that's decent quality without being overly expensive... like better quality than Accesorize but not like £75 a pair either.

Anyone any suggestions of shops that sell earrings that might fit the bill?!

Do you mean plated gold instead of solid? I was going to say Swarovski, but not sure of the prices now. What style? Dangly drop, sleepers, solitaire type? Warren James? Not sure of the longevity of their items though.

Oliver Bonas do lovely earrings.

I was going to recommend them but some pearl and silver sort of huggie earrings have broken since Christmas (a present) so wouldn’t recommend now.

Happy with plated yes. Not really set on style yet just wanted something that would last/good quality - so a bit more 'decent' than the more high fashion stuff

Plating really doesn't last that well. You have to remove everyone if you are washing or spraying anything like perfume or hair products near them. The pin that goes in your ear always turns black.

There are some new 'waterproof' jewellery brands that use a newer form of coating that is apparently much tougher. Google 'waterproof jewellery'. No idea if it's good. But it is affordable

Orelia luxe is waterproof, the plating doesn't seem to wear off. There are other similar brands too.

I love M&S jewellery it's the best and I have to stop myself buying things every week

Purpleandredandyellow · 01/04/2024 09:18

Vintage or second hand at a jewellery auction house - you pick up great deals and often 9ct or even 18ct gold

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 01/04/2024 09:21

Pandora do lovely earrings.

BigHeartyTruffle · 01/04/2024 09:22

I highly recommend Oliver Bonas. It’s the only high street jewellery I’ve found that doesn’t tarnish / make your skin turn green / get that horrible metallic smell after a couple of months.

justinhawkinsnavalfluff · 01/04/2024 09:23

Solace jewellery good quality and not expensive

Cuppachuchu · 01/04/2024 09:27

I've had gold plated earrings from John Lewis which have lasted well, 4 or 5 yrs and no sign of tarnish. The brand is Philip Jones.

CreateYourOwnUsername · 01/04/2024 09:30

I like Solace too. I have sensitive ears and these don't bother them too much (I still can't sleep in them though)

M&S ones are good

A bit of a plug for handmade jewellery - I'm not a jeweller by the way.

We're about to hit the open craft / art studio season this month. Can I put in a plea for supporting local jewellers. The work will be of high quality (hallmarked) and not mass produced.

Check out your local area for open studio / art trail events and get some beautiful statement earrings and support a local jeweller. Ig you give me a clue I can point you in the right direction

I've bought a few things from here and several have broken so for me the quality shops me buying again

I have a lot of Monica Vinada
