I've been thinking of buying these Birkenstock ankle strap sandals for a while now https://www.legendfootwear.co.uk/products/birkenstock-milano-bs-birko-flor-unisex-sandals-5825 but I'm not sure if we need to go a size up or down. I have no experience with Birkenstock before. Please if anyone here can help me. My foot size is really small, I'm not sure if they'll fit me

I dont find them comfortable either. I had some orange arizonas but ended up giving them away.

Do you wear out a pair a year?

I've had mine for about 3/4 years and they aren't even close to worn out.

Yes. I wear sandals 10 months of the year as I live in a hot country. I wear them walking to/from work and all weekend. I do a lot of walking.

Wallywobbles · 17/04/2024 04:32

Always go a size down.

sashh · 17/04/2024 04:48

I find them comfortable, I have two pairs.

I have arthritis and quite wide feet so comfort is the priority. I think you need to try them on to see if they are a match for your feet.

Always go a size down.

That doesn’t work - the shape of the footbed means I hit the raised bit in the wrong place. I put the buckle onto a narrow fitting and that helps a bit, but not so much that I could walk for miles in them.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/04/2024 08:31

You have to get the size just right so really you need to try them on. They do a soft bed version now too. I don't find them comfy for anything but pottering around and I've been wearing them for the last 30 years.

smugandxmasready · 17/04/2024 20:58

Yes, very comfortable. Did a lot of research last year for a Disney Florida holiday shoe (LOTS of walking) Purchased the Arizona style and paid extra for a 'softbed' which may have helped.

Amara123 · 17/04/2024 21:24

The soft footbed variety are the most comfortable, my favourite.

I find Birkenstocks too hard on my feet but love the M&S alternatives. So comfy and I wear them nonstop in the summer. I buy them whenever I get a money off coupon so I never run out!

My feet are the perfect shape for Arizonas and I wear them all the time at home

The more you wear them the more comfortable they become. They are so comfortable especially if you have wooden floors. The difference when I go barefoot is very noticeable

I don't wear them outside anymore because I prefer trainers for walking around

InAMillion · 18/04/2024 02:42

I've never needed to break mine in

If I did then I wouldn't have got past the first pair

PBandJ111 · 18/04/2024 05:38

Mine make farting noises when I walk so I never wear them.

Thatsthewayitisnt · 18/04/2024 05:55

I bought my first pair in Sorrento years ago. I don’t wear anything else in the summer now. I always wear Gizahs though. I think they are incredibly comfortable and supportive.

lunepremiere79 · 18/04/2024 06:22

If you find Birkenstocks uncomfortable then you have got the wrong size/shape combination. They do run large, so I would go a full size down from your usual size. They also come in narrow and normal widths, which is important to consider for a proper fit https://www.birkenstock.com/gb/faq-answer?cid=faq-eu-how-do-i-know-if-i-need-a-regular-or-a-narrow-width

I find them too firm, but like the shaping so have some fit flops and Vionic sandals for summer shoes with foot support that aren't frumpy like some other support sandals can be
